JOYCITY announced on the 26th that it has unveiled 'Freestyle Reboot,' a remastered version of its online basketball game 'Freestyle.'
'Freestyle Reboot' is a reboot project based on the IP of JOYCITY's flagship basketball game, 'Freestyle.' It retains the original's street basketball atmosphere and 3v3 real-time match structure while revamping the art and systems to suit the current service environment.
The new title was developed using a new engine. JOYCITY explained that it has replaced outdated art assets and improved the overall visual quality.
The competitive environment has been designed to prioritize player experience over raw stats. The goal is to emphasize player control and decision-making during matches rather than relying solely on character stats. Additionally, new content such as story modes and a seasonal system will be included.
'Freestyle Reboot' was first released in the Greater China region, including Hong Kong and Macau, last May through the Taiwanese game publisher HappyTuk. JOYCITY plans to expand the service to other countries, including South Korea, in the future.
Jeon Hyun-kyu, director of the Freestyle business division at JOYCITY, stated, "'Freestyle Reboot' is a project that goes beyond simple graphic improvements; we have redesigned the user experience from the ground up. Based on the gameplay verified through our service in Taiwan, we will prepare to deliver the perfect basketball gaming experience to our domestic users as well."
