Perfect World Games held a special broadcast today (the 23rd) ahead of the Version 1.1 update for 'Code Name: Wandering Sword,' an urban fantasy open-world RPG developed by its subsidiary, Hotta Studio. During the broadcast, key developers introduced the update's content and future improvements.
Version 1.1 introduces a new area, 'Sunrise Island.' Located off the coast of Hetero City, this area features beaches and fishing villages, offering a different atmosphere from the city with sunflower-filled walkways, a cruise port, and quiet country roads. Meanwhile, players will face new formidable foes in the 'Corridor,' a place of anomalies. A previously released PV hinted at a new mystery for the Appraiser, showing a scene where a customer at a takoyaki stand mentions that a child who had gone missing and returned was completely different from before.

The broadcast then introduced the Version 1.1 pickup characters, Lacrimosa and Chaos. 'Lacrimosa,' familiar to users from the Version 1 tutorial and the Tomato Devil sub-story, is a Dark-attribute Liquid Arc character. Her specialty lies in creating various objects with her supernatural abilities, as well as crafting creature-like constructs that mimic monsters to launch counterattacks. Note that some of her abilities are unlocked only after completing side stories.
Lacrimosa attacks by controlling her supernatural constructs and inflicts the 'Nightmare' effect on enemies. Enemies affected by Nightmare take Dark-attribute damage every second for 3 seconds. This effect can stack up to 10 times, and her Ultimate ability applies the maximum stack of Nightmare to enemies in a wide area.

The next pickup character introduced was 'Chaos' from E.T.D Team 6. A Photo-attribute Binding Arc character, she specializes in abilities that manifest fog into hound shapes to assist in combat. These hounds can also be used as teleportation points, allowing for quick repositioning.
In combat, each skill usage builds 'Charge' stacks, which can be consumed to trigger follow-up attacks for significant damage. Activating her Ultimate grants 'Pursuit Authorization' to the target, further amplifying damage for a set duration. The Lacrimosa pickup runs from June 3 until maintenance on June 24, while the Chaos pickup runs from after maintenance on June 24 until maintenance on July 8. The update also includes modeling improvements for several characters and the addition of various skins for the two new pickup characters.

Next, the team discussed Version 1.1 improvements. First, 'Bagel,' the in-game SNS and messenger, is getting an update. Moving beyond the limited exchange of pre-set emojis and text, players can now post in-game screenshots to their feed, share them with others, and view posts from other users. Collecting 'Likes' through follows and favorites allows players to exchange them for various items in the Bagel shop.
New stories will also unfold in the Detention Center. Following the update, the 'Tornado' organization, which rules the center, will take center stage. When the Appraiser is incarcerated, they can engage in 'Fight Club' duels against the Tornado boss, relying on pure control—parrying, dodging, and striking. After defeating the Tornado, 'Fight Club' will be added as a daily city activity, supporting up to 4 players in anonymous matchmaking.

Racing also receives new content: 'Lawless Racing.' This is a 6-player infinite racing brawl where users must quickly secure randomly spawned vehicles to compete. Players in the driver and passenger seats form a symbiotic relationship, and all occupants can operate weapons. If a vehicle is destroyed, its occupants are eliminated. While players start with common weapons, a key element is scavenging for various weapons from crates placed along the track.

The Porsche collaboration, previously teased, is confirmed for Version 1.1. The update adds the Porsche 918 Spyder, collaboration costumes, and a new housing area, 'Pegasus Residence,' which features a car elevator that allows players to drive directly into their home. The Porsche 918 Spyder and costumes can be obtained via a limited-time gacha event using either 'Hwanseok' or 'Ponds.' Various events and content will also be added to help players earn additional Hwanseok, Expansion Cores, and Ponds.
Version 1.1 also brings quality-of-life improvements, including automatic vehicle driving, improved dialogue skipping, a ride-muting function, and new teleportation points to the Witch's House and Pink Purse headquarters. Further optimizations include new tuning parts, phone customization options, and improved gamepad controls and mobile performance.

After the update, a 7-day cumulative login event will grant a total of 10 'Dice of Truth' (limited gacha tickets), along with various rewards including 5 'Dice of Deception' (standard gacha tickets) on the day of the update. Pre-registrations are open for Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Galaxy Store in Korea. The developers also announced future multi-platform support through a partnership with GeForce Now.
Code Name: Wandering Sword' Version 1.1 is scheduled for release on June 3. Further details can be found on the official lounge.
