An in-depth guide to Lorraine - From Vision Control to Crowd Control, the Perfect Support

Lorraine, the Framebreaker, is a Kinetic-type Mid-ranged Support in MXM. Her weapon is called Lightbender, and she has several skills that can support her allies with vision control, blinding, and stun effects.

The range of her basic attack is rather short, although she has a skill that gives her additional attack damage, allowing her to deal a lot of damage for a Support Master. Speed Shooting resets your overheat gauge, decreases heat buildup by half, and gives you additional attack damage, which Lorraine can use to kill monsters in the jungle.

She doesn’t have any castable mobility skill as her active skills aside from her survival skill, B-roll, so her survivability suffers as a result. However, her passive skill can make up for that, as it grants her 100% increased movement speed for 1 second after hitting an enemy. Try to keep yourself as safe and alive as possible while restraining enemy movement whenever you get the chance.

▣ Just need 30 seconds before the battle starts! Recommended Master options

◆ Recommended Augments

You can farm jungle monsters with Lorraine by just using her basic attacks. Having Overheat as your weapon augment will lessen the burden of heat buildup, making farming more efficient.

◆ Recommended Skill Combinations

You can enhance your basic attacks with Speed Shooting, and use Lens Focus to control vision in a focused area. Lorrain with Speed Shooting can go around the map farming jungle monsters while using Lens Focus whenever she can.

This skill combination focuses on supporting allies. Flashbang will blind the enemies, and F-Stop will stun from a distance. Both of these skills are great in teamfights.

◆ Node Compatibility

Lorraine may be a Support, but she is a Master who can deal considerable damage with her basic attacks and attack speed. You can choose Weapon Damage for more offense or Cooldown Reduction so that you can keep your enemy locked down more often.

◆ Recommended Spell

Recovery Pulse will help you sustain longer and also heal your allies in team fights. If you feel movement speed is more important, then pick Sprint or Teleport.

◆ Trait Priority

If you want to mostly use support skills, then I recommend using Cooldown/Resource to reduce your cooldown. If you want to focus on inflicting damage, then upgrade Weapon Damage to add more damage to your basic attack. If you choose Speed Shooting, your basic attack becomes especially important, in which case Weapon Damage will be a great help in the battlefield.

▣ From Attack to Support, choosing skills to fit your play style! Lorraine’s skill set

Lorraine’s first skill, Speed Shooting, can be activated and turned off by pressing the skill’s shortcut key. Upon activation, your heat gauge is reset and heat buildup rate decreases by 50%. Also, Lorraine’s attack damage and movement speed increases by 15%. This skill can allow Lorraine to deal damage on par with a DPS Master. However, 25 MP is spent every 0.5 seconds that the skill is active, so you should always keep track of your MP when using it.

Lens Focus is a skill that gives you vision of an area by activating a Spotlight. It reveals any enemies (including stealthed) in the area and slows them by 30%. This effect will only be cast on enemies in the Spotlight once every 3 seconds. This is a skill is very helpful when you need to have control over objectives and jungle monsters.

Flashbang is a skill that can blind a target for 4 seconds. Since the skill is click-to-hit, it is easy to land on any enemy in range. Enemies hit by this skill will be blinded and slowed by 50% for 2 seconds. 4 seconds is a long time in the heat of battle, so this skill can be very valuable. While the enemy is incapacitated, you and your team can deal massive damage on them.

F-Stop is a skill that stuns enemies from a far distance. Activating the skill brings up a circular hitbox that follows your cursor. The stun duration increase the closer the target is to the center of the hitbox, with the maximum duration being 2 seconds. This skill also deals 835 damage, making it the only damage-inflicting skill Lorraine has aside from her ult. Lorraine is slowed while aiming, so be sure to use the skill from a safe location.

Lorraine’s ult, Maximum Exposure, is a skill that moves all targets within the AoE. Upon activation, a square area is set and enemies within range are dragged to the center of the area. It is important to hit as many enemies as possible with her ult, and if your allies manage to deal additional damage with their AoE skills, then you will be one step closer to victory.

Her passive skill is Flash Step, which gives her 100% increased movement speed for 1 second whenever she strikes an enemy. This skill will be helpful for survival when chasing after or distancing yourself from an enemy, as Lorraine has no other active skills that she can use to move. However, Lorraine does have her survival skill, B-Roll, which lets her roll 5m towards the cursor.

▣ Continued use of skills from a safe distance is important! How to effectively play Lorraine

Lorraine’s strength is supporting allies with vision control and CC. Since her attack range is short, it may be overwhelming for Lorraine to stand in the lane. It is better to move around the battlefield, farming monsters in the jungle and helping others in team fights.

When Lorraine sets out to farm jungle monsters, it is important to use Speed Shooting well. It resets your current heat gauge for your weapon, and decreases heat buildup by half, letting Lorraine farm monsters fast. If you chose this skill, focus mainly on farming for stable growth. However, excessive use of Speed Shooting will drain all your MP, so only activate it when you need it.

▲ Speed Shooting drains your MP once activated, so it is necessary to keep an eye on your MP.

Don’t forget to always check on your allies when farming monsters by looking at the minimap, since you need to meetup with your allies and help whenever a team fight breaks out. Since Lorraine has many CC skills, fighting along with your allies will help your team win.

When battling, use Flashbang to blind your enemies and keep them from controlling their Masters and F-Stop to stun them, depending on your play style. Each skill has an advantage- Flashbang is a targeted skill, making it easy to hit your enemy, and F-Stop can stun several targets within range.

As for your ult, Maximum Exposure, you have to make sure you hit as many enemies as possible. All targets within range of the ult are pulled to the center, allowing your allies to use additional skills with CC or AoE more easily.

If you choose Lens Focus for your active skill, you can use it to control vision of main objectives and jungle monsters. Also, use this skill to gain vision in particular areas where you suspect an enemy ambush, like bushes. Its AoE is 15m, so Lorraine does not necessarily have to move to the area; use it across a wall or around the target area for safety.
