T1 defeated Gen.G Esports 2-1 in the second round of the 2026 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular season, held at LoL PARK in Jongno on the 16th. The match was crucial for securing a favorable position in the top-tier standings, and despite a one-sided loss in the first set, T1 quickly regrouped to complete a reverse sweep.
Early in the first set, Gen.G Esports drew first blood in a scuttle crab skirmish. While T1 secured an initial kill in the 2v2 bot lane, Gen.G held the advantage in the mid-jungle area. As the fight escalated, 'Chovy' Jung Ji-hun's Rumble successfully finished off both members of T1's bot duo. 'Kiin' Kim Gi-in's Renekton also dodged a dive well to pick up a kill. Although T1 managed to take down the mid-jungle with a 5-man mid dive, they were heavily countered in a subsequent bot lane dive, conceding four kills.
T1 caught a breather by picking off 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk's Ezreal in the mid lane. However, a prolonged fight while contesting a dragon led to an ace against them. With firm control of the game, Gen.G Esports snowballed their lead through side-lane operations, with Rumble even securing a solo kill. Continuing their winning streak, Gen.G closed out the first set in 27 minutes with a gold lead of over 10k.
The second set was much more intense. Both teams traded blows in a tight contest until the balance shifted during the third dragon teamfight. Gen.G Esports scored a win as 'Kiin's' Sion held the line while the rest of the team cleaned up. After 'Chovy's' Annie picked off 'Peyz' Kim Su-hwan's Caitlyn, Gen.G baited T1 into a Baron fight and gained a massive advantage, widening the global gold gap to over 5k.
However, T1 was not about to collapse. Despite the deficit, they continued to force skirmishes to trade kills and stalled the game by denying Gen.G's dragon stacks. 'Oner' Mun Hyeon-jun's Baron steal on Lee Sin was a major turning point. Although Gen.G eventually secured the Chemtech Soul, T1 had already caught up in growth. Finally, 'Oner' successfully stole the Elder Dragon, leading to a teamfight victory that put an end to the long, grueling game.
In the decisive third set, T1 pulled out a surprise Camille support pick, using their bot lane strength to pull ahead early. 'Peyz's' Mel started 3/1/1, and a liberated 'Oner' on Vi also picked up a kill in a 2v2 top lane skirmish. The Mel-Camille duo moved to mid, trapping 'Chovy's' Taliyah with 'Hextech Ultimatum' for a kill. Gen.G tried to salvage the situation by taking the Rift Herald, but they suffered five deaths in the process, causing their momentum to collapse completely.
With a lead of over 5k gold by the 16-minute mark, T1 was unstoppable. They forced another fight with Camille's ultimate, catching out Gen.G's champions one by one to secure an ace. Within two minutes, the gap grew to 10k. Along with additional kills, they also secured the Ocean Soul. However, a major mishap occurred around the 24-minute mark when T1 was caught out while checking Baron vision, resulting in an ace against them. T1 had to concede the Baron, and the gold gap narrowed to 4k in an instant.
Still, T1 remained in the driver's seat. When the Elder Dragon spawned, T1 established position first and picked off 'Canyon's' Pantheon. With the numbers advantage, T1 executed a clean fight to secure an ace, followed by both the Elder Dragon and Baron. Pushing into the top lane, T1 relied on the power of the Elder buff to force a fight. Although it ended in a 3-for-3 trade, T1 held the superior champion value and, bolstered by the Baron buff, successfully destroyed Gen.G's Nexus to end the third set.
