An in-depth guide to Tulam: A Master who initiates with powerful melee attacks

Tulam is a Helix-type melee skirmisher with high attack stats in MXM. He uses his own fists called Akumite Shards, out of which shards will fly which allow you to attack in a wider range. Also, they do not overheat when auto attacking.

Tulam’s skill set is comprised of mainly damage-inflicting abilities, some of which are CC skills that launch targets into the air or fling them behind Tulam. He also has a debuff skill that weakens all enemies within a certain range, which is very handy in battles.

His survival skill is a bit special; most of the Masters either evade or nullify enemy attacks, but Tulam’s survival skill gives him additional defense for 5 seconds with super armor. This helps you withstand attacks.

▣ Just need 30 seconds before the battle starts! Recommended Master options

◆ Recommended Augments

Tulam is a Master that deals damage with high weapon damage by closing in on the target with his skills. Therefore, I recommend using weapon upgrade types that can increase your attack damage.

◆ Recommended Skill Combination

Knuckle Duster and Tunnel Strike will be a safe combination against enemy attacks. You can use Tunnel Strike to close in on your target without any damage taken, and Knuckle Duster to reflect projectiles while you deal damage.

Landslide will let you fling a target behind you. You can use this skill to fling an enemy towards your team, and slow them so they can be taken down by your teammates.

◆ Node Compatibility

Since Tulam has high weapon damage, you’ll want to use Nodes that increase Weapon Damage. Furthermore, there are many instances where Tulam has to step into the fray, so you should have auxiliary Nodes that increase your defense and health.

◆ Recommended Spell

Tulam is a short-ranged melee damage dealer, so he is more suitable for diving into the midst of the enemy from the front line and initiating a fight, rather than assassinating enemies via ambush. Therefore, using Recovery Pulse is recommended to increase his survivability.

◆ Traits Priority

Tulam deals more damage to enemies with his weapon than with his skills, so I recommend investing your Trait points in Weapon Damage. Other than that, he relies on his skills to close in on the enemies or initiate, so investing Trait points into Cooldown/Resource is a good idea.

▣ Tulam the initiator! Tulam’s Skill Set

Knuckle Duster is an attack skill with no CC; Tulam just spins around in a whirlwind, inflicting damage to those nearby. This skill reflects enemy projectiles, which will be highly effective when fighting against long-ranged Masters. You can move when using Knuckle Duster, but your speed gets slower and its activation time isn’t that long, so use this skill in combination with a mobility skill when you are near a target.

When using Landslide, Tulam slides towards a target and flings it behind him. If an ally is in his way, he does not cancel their motions, but just pushes them away. This skill can be used to move either an ally or enemy towards a place you want them to move to, so if when the team fight begins, dive into the enemy team and fling one to your teammates to kill. If you’ve been hit by a skill with wide AoE, use this skill to move out of the range with your teammates.

Tunnel Strike lets Tulam tunnel through the ground and burst out to launch enemies into the air. You can avoid enemy attacks when moving through the ground, so use this skill to dive into the enemy without getting hurt, or use it as a means of dodging.

Weight of Stone is a skill that weakens all enemies around Tulam, reducing enemy weapon damag, and skill power, and drains enemy stamina when upgraded to level 6. Since the AoE is a decent size, it becomes more efficient when an ally is nearby. When a team fight starts, use this skill when you rush into the enemy team for ally skill combos.

▲ Use Knuckle Duster when your enemy can’t run away from you for more efficiency.

Chiseled Resolve is a passive skill that increases Tulam’s weapon damage and defense when his health falls below 50%. Stone Faced is another survival skill that gives Tulam additional defense and super armor, so use this skill to decrease the damage you take when attacking first.

Solquake is a skill that pulls enemies within range closer to Tulam and deals damage. When hit, enemies are launched into the air, and the further away they are from the center, the longer the air time. You can pull several enemies to one point at the same time and deliver an enormous amount of damage to the opponent team. Also, Tulam can use his own skill combo, Tunnel Strike and Knuckle Duster, to focus the team’s damage on a target.

▲ You can pull an enemy who is desperately trying to escape with low HP.

▣ How to use a skill combo to avoid enemy skills and attack them at the same time! How to effectively play Tulam

Tulam can shine in skirmishes and kill off enemies as he has high weapon damage, and can help his allies use their skill combos by standing in the front line during team fights. You can use Tunnel Strike and Landslide to stop your enemies from moving and deal great damage when playing Tulam.

As I mentioned before, his attack damage is fairly high so killing enemy minions and jungle monsters with your allies will help you grow faster. However, being too immersed in jungling will endanger your teammates, and since Tulam is an initiator who rushes in and helps his teammates use their skill combos, always keep an eye on the lanes.

▲ By grinding jungle monsters, you will be able to grow quickly and easily destroy your enemies.

As for skill combos, use Tunnel Strike to avoid enemy attacks while launching them into the air at your exit point and use Knuckle Duster to deal damage. Knuckle Duster reflects long-ranged projectiles, so your survivability will increase.

Landslide can initiate a fight and at the same time fling an enemy towards your teammates. When the actual fight begins, rush towards an enemy who tries to come near and fling them behind for your teammates to eat up while the enemy has reduced weapon damage, skill power, and movement speed.

Tulam is a powerful damage dealer who can fight against the opponent by himself, although being around your teammates will make it a lot easier. Therefore, when you play Tulam, instead of farming monsters and moving towards the enemy base by yourself, join up with other Masters killing monsters, or go to the lanes to initiate teamfights.

▲ Launch an enemy into the air in a skill combo with Tunnel Strike.
