A massive update, 'Return of the Ancients,' is coming to Path of Exile 2.

On the 8th, Grinding Gear Games released the official trailer and details for 'Return of the Ancients' via the official Path of Exile YouTube channel. The update follows players on a journey to find the Pioneers—the architects of the Third Edict, created under Doryani's guidance—to counter the encroaching darkness spreading across Wraeclast.

This update will introduce six new endgame storylines, along with new final bosses, a crafting system, ascendancy classes, unique items, and a challenge league.

Five new bosses will be added, along with two new ascendancy classes: the Martial Artist for the Monk and the Spirit Walker for the Huntress. The Martial Artist excels at creating powerful illusions and using their hands as weapons, while the Spirit Walker binds enemies with spirits and summons spectral companions to fight alongside them.

Players can also look forward to a revamped Atlas tree, the discovery of Ezomyte ruins, the power of Verisium to unlock a new defensive mechanic called Rune Ward, new Kalguuran skills, and various quality-of-life updates.
