Overwatch celebrates its anniversary with in-game events, free weekend and GOTY edition

Blizzard's first-person shooter Overwatch will celebrate its one year anniversary with an in-game event that will run from May 23rd to June 12th.

Blizzard didn't fully announce the details of the event, but they have already hinted at new dancing emotes, arena maps and voice lines. More details will be revealed over the course of the week.

Along with the event, the game will have another free weekend for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from May 26th to May 29th. All features except Competitive Play will be available, and players who purchase the game during and after the free weekend will be able to keep their progress made during the free weekend.

Blizzard also announced that Overwatch will now have a Game of the Year Edition. This new edition of the game is expected to replace Origins Edition, which included exclusive in-game cosmetics for Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II and Diablo III. The Game of the Year edition will contain every extra content that Origin Edition had plus 10 Loot Boxes for Overwatch. Release date and pricing has not been announced yet.
