On Nov. 5, in the quarterfinals of the 2023 LoL World Championship, T1 faced LNG Esports. As all of the LCK teams were eliminated in the previous games, T1 stood as LCK’s last hope, and to fulfill LCK fans’ expectations, they had a clean 3-0 sweep. With a dominating performance, T1 will now move on to the semifinals and face JD Gaming. After the match, T1 mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong joined Yoon Soo-bin on the stage for an interview.

Congrats on the win. How do you feel?

Faker: I came thinking that we could win 3-0 today. Our performance was good, and it feels that the teamwork was good too, so I’m satisfied.

Gumayusi: I came thinking that we must win since we’re the last LCK team left, and I’m happy that we were able to win 3-0.

As you know, all LCK teams except T1 were eliminated, and you could have felt pressured. Faker was seen meditating before the game. How did you control your mentality?

Faker: I try to focus solely on the game, so I didn’t think about the current situation too much.

Gumayusi, you and Keria played non-meta picks in Nilah-Senna or Varus-Ashe and pressured from the laning phase. How did you prepare those picks?

Gumayusi: We’ve been playing together for quite a while, so there were many compositions we could pick. It seems that the meta is kind of fixed at the moment, but I believe that we can lead the meta. I think our picks are correct.

You didn’t give up a single dragon today as you won, and with today’s win, Faker’s record of being undefeated against LPL teams in Worlds best-of series continues. What do you think about that record?

Faker: Fans would have had higher expectations because of that record, but I don’t pay attention to those records. What’s more important is how well we prepare.

Did Gumayusi pay attention to the record?

Gumayusi: T1 does not lose to LPL.

There are three LPL teams and one LCK team in the semifinals, and you’ll be facing JDG and Ruler. How will you face them?

Gumayusi: I want to pay back for what we suffered at MSI and remind him about what happened at the Worlds semifinals last year.

A word to Ruler?

Gumayusi: Ruler, congratulations on the gold medal at the Asian Games. I’ll take Worlds.

What do you think is the most important on facing JDG?

Faker: I had said that I wanted to meet JDG early in the Swiss Stage. I want to have fun playing the game. I believe we can beat them, so we’ll prepare as we always did.

Gumayusi had said that you’re the best bot duo at Worlds. What are your expectations heading to the semifinals?

Gumayusi: I’ll prepare well and play well in the semifinals against JDG. See you in Seoul!

Any last comments, Faker?

Faker: We were able to have a clean win in the quarterfinals today. I’ll prepare well and work hard to keep giving joy to the fans in the games to come.
