On Oct. 10, DWG KIA defeated Evil Geniuses in the group stage of the 2022 LoL World Championship. They secured 2nd place with a 2-1 record through the win before heading into the second round. In the game, Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon picked Jayce, which was picked for the first time at Worlds 2022. After the game, Nuguri joined Sjokz and Jeesun Park for a post-game interview.

The first thing I want to ask about is about the Jayce pick, which is yet another new pick here at Worlds. Why was it the right time for the Jayce, and why did you pick it?

After we lost to JDG, I thought a lot about which pick would suit our team and my playstyle best. I didn’t really fix the Jayce pick in advance, but I did feel that I needed to try him out. Frankly, when they locked in Hecarim, I was so scared. [Laughs] It’s a relief it went well.

This has been a very diverse Worlds, in terms of the amount of things that happened in picks and bans. How happy are you with your team's meta read overall?

Our coaching staff excels at interpreting the meta. Although there are times our results aren’t as good, I’m very confident in our team’s ability to analyze the meta.

We're really happy to see you reunited with ShowMaker and Canyon. What is it like being back at Worlds with your teammates?

They’re always great players — nothing’s really changed. Even though we were away for a while, it feels that we’ve always played together. I’m playing comfortably.
