Riot suspends a pro player for his racist remark

CBLoL RED Canid's YoDa is fined US$2,000 and suspended for 3 games for his racist comment.

On April 27th, Riot Games announced that they will punish Felipe “YoDa” Noronha, RED Canids’ substitute mid laner, for his racist remark that went viral.

The controversy started as YoDa made a racist comment on his social media account. The comment went viral within hours when it was posted on a League of Legends community website. The general consensus was that Riot Games would need to take action.

Riot Games responded swiftly. Through the announcement, Riot Games suspended YoDa for 3 games and issued a US$2,000 fine for "using racially offensive language regarding players from another region."

The announcement ended with Riot Game's stance on racism. Stating that their ruling is "consistent with previous punishments and is appropriate to our expectations of pro player behavior," they emphasized their "zero tolerance for...racially derogatory language."
