T1 Oner: "Ultimately, Faker picked Kai’sa because we trusted each other."

On day 38 of the 2022 LCK Spring split, T1 defeated Kwangdong Freecs 2-1 in Match 1 of the day. Although T1 showed moments of vulnerability, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon managed to save their team with their plays. Especially in game 3, when the two marksman champions [mid Kai’Sa for Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok & Jinx for Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong] were in danger, Keria and Oner were able to support the two carries and lead T1 to victory.

Both players were selected as Player of the Game [PoG] for their performances in game 1 and 3 respectively. T1’s victory over KDF also meant that they are now 15-0 in the regular split, setting a new milestone in the LCK. On setting the new record, both players stated that they were “Thrilled to be able to remain undefeated.”

In this series, T1 first picked Jayce for their top laner, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je in all three of their games. When asked about such a decision from T1, Keria stated, “Not only is Zeus really good at Jayce, we felt that he was a really good blindable pick in the meta. In terms of the Ryze and Malphite bans in game 3, they weren’t necessarily hard to deal with; it was more of a target ban to choke their draft.”

Oner also shared his thoughts on Faker’s mid Kai’Sa pick. “I feel that as long as you can pilot the champion well, she’s definitely pickable. We even practiced with mid Kai’Sa as a team, and ultimately, Faker picked Kai’sa because we trusted each other.”

T1 now only has three regular split matches left. When asked about whether or not they can have an undefeated split, both answered in unison that they’ll have a 100% win rate. They also praised Fredit Brion’s recent performance by saying, “They’re a great team, so we’ll make sure to put on a great performance.”
