Faker: "VicLa plays with a lot of confidence... He's a really good player."

On day 35 of the 2022 LCK Spring split, T1 defeated KT Rolster 2-0 and remained undefeated in the regular split. With their victory tonight, T1 tied their own record of going 14-0 in the regular split, which was set in 2015.

The mid laner for T1, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, joined the press room at LoL Park for a post-match interview.

How does it feel to tie your own 14-0 record?

It feels really good. I didn’t expect us to remain undefeated for this long. I think the early momentum was what really allowed us to set this great record for ourselves.

In your journey to setting this grand record, is there a match you felt was particularly tough?

Our match against DWG KIA in round 1 was our toughest match. It was a huge hurdle that we managed to overcome, so I was really happy when we won that match. I think that win was what really allowed us to come this far.

Coincidentally, when that record was set [by SKT T1] in 2015, the opponents back then were also KT Rolster.

Whenever we play KT, the series gets dubbed the ‘Telecom Wars’, and with tonight’s match, I feel that another saga of that rivalry has been added. As for tonight’s series, I feel that they actually played pretty well. On the flip side, we played very poorly.

At the end of game 2, you stated that KT played very well tonight. What aspects of their gameplay were impressive?

Their rookie mid laner, Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang plays with a lot of confidence. I thought to myself that he’s a really good player. KT’s a team that continues to stay proactive even when they’re down. They’re very unpredictable at times, so we played very carefully.

Do you think you’ll be able to set a new record in the next match?

We made a lot of mistakes as a team tonight. I think that as long as we don’t think about the record itself and focus on our gameplay, I think we can do it.

With tonight’s victory, T1 also locked in their spot in round 2 of the Spring playoffs.

While teams were able to seed directly into the finals in the past, we now have to play one match to head to the playoffs. I’m not too hung up about it.

Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

We’ll make sure to not get complacent and give it our all in our remaining matches.
