TSM has eliminated 100 Thieves from the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Mid-Season Showdown in a 3-1 victory. TSM will move on to the final match in the lower bracket of the post-season to face off against Team Liquid, with the winner heading to the finals against Cloud9 to see who represents North America at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational.
The series had a very consistent through-line: 100 Thieves won every single early game, but outside of a single instance, it wasn't enough to triumph over TSM's superior mid-game decision making and late-game macro decision-making. 100 Thieves was able to win the top lane matchup for Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho's Jayce against Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon's Gnar, but the fact that 100 Thieves only won one of those games is the most indicative individual factor of the nature of the series.
Both teams played a similar style throughout the series, as they have in the past few weeks of LCS competition, but ultimately, TSM's familiarity with the high-stress moments of the methodical pace preferred by both teams ended up being the primary difference-maker. 100 Thieves created more opportunities to win the games in the series, but at the end of the day, TSM was able to turn more pivotal moments in its favor despite being less proactive than 100 throughout the match.
In eliminating 100 Thieves, TSM has confirmed a top 3 finish in the 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown. As one of the top 3 teams remaining in the North American post-season, TSM will compete at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA next weekend which marks the first offline NA matches since 2020.
TSM will play the first match in the Greek Theatre against Team Liquid, and the victor of the last match in the lower bracket will play against Cloud9 in the finals of the 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown. The winner will represent North America at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational.
