The Spring Split of the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series has come to a close and the six teams competing in the LCS Mid-Season Showdown have been seeded into the post-season bracket. The following teams will be competing to represent North America at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational will be 1st seed Cloud9, 2nd seed TSM, 3rd seed Team Liquid, 4th seed 100 Thieves, 5th seed Dignitas, and 6th seed Evil Geniuses.

The seeding for the 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown was the most predictable of potential seeding outcomes, but the route to that outcome took several unexpected terms. Many unexpected results, such as CLG's upset against Cloud9, took place throughout week 6.

C9 shook off its loss to CLG and beat Dignitas convincingly, but because of TSM's 2-1 week, C9 needed to defeat Immortals to avoid a three-team tie for 1st place with TSM and Team Liquid - the latter defeated 100 Thieves earlier in the day to finish 12-6 in the Spring Split - and subsequent tiebreaker matches to decide post-season seeding.

C9 ended up defeating Immortals, and as the only team with a 13-5 record, held onto sole possession of 1st place and secured the 1st seed in the Mid-Season Showdown. TSM and Team Liquid finished tied for 2nd place at 12-6, but because of TSM's 2-0 head-to-head record this spring against TL, TSM secured the 2nd seed while TL settled for the 3rd seed.

After a miraculous comeback against FlyQuest, Dignitas tied 100 Thieves at 11-7, but because of 100's 2-0 head-to-head record, Dignitas' losses to Team Liquid and Cloud9 ended up costing the team a spot in the upper bracket. As the 5th seed in the Mid-Season Showdown, DIG will not have the double-elimination privilege possessed by Cloud9, TSM, Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.

Evil Geniuses rounds out the Mid-Season Showdown as the 6th seed due to its 10-8 record, joining Dignitas in the lower bracket.

The seeding results lead to the first two best-of-five match pairings of Cloud9 and 100 Thieves on one side of the bracket with Team Liquid facing off against TSM on the other side. The winners of the first round will move on to play one another in the next round, and the losers will head down to the single-elimination lower bracket. Of the two top 4 seeds who lose their first matches, the higher seed will be allowed to choose either Dignitas or Evil Geniuses as its next opponent.

The 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown kicks off on Friday, March 20 with 1st seed Cloud9 facing off against 4th seed 100 Thieves in a best-of-five match in the first round of the upper bracket at 3:00pm PT.
