VG's owner dismisses Bengi as being 'worth only a penny'

In March 12th (Local time), Vici Gaming's owner, Lu “HunTeR” Wenjun, caused a controversy among Vici Gaming's fans by making a comparison between the team's current jungler, Seongwoong “Bengi” Bae, and the team's previous jungler, Ingyu “DanDy” Choi.

The reason for controversy was because HunTeR dismissed Bengi by saying that, if translated directly, "A penny will only get something that's worth a penny". His comment seemed to be aimed at Bengi's salary compared to DanDy's, and how the team has been in decline after putting Bengi in DanDy's role.

As Vici Gaming's fans began to criticize HunTeR's tasteless remark, HunTeR posted an apology a day later. He said: "Yesterday, I have made a comment that made Bengi's and Vici Gaming's fans angry. I have personally apologized to Bengi about my comments, and I would also like to make an official apology for my actions."

He continued his apology by saying that he'd like to explain the team's situation. "Although I have made a mistake in a fit of anger, and Bengi is indeed trying his best to adjust to the team, there is no denying that our team has been in a decline. Also, I was disappointed find out that Bengi had a problem that he couldn't overcome."

The problem with Bengi, according to HunTeR, was: "His teammates mentioned how Bengi is having difficulty in explaining his thoughts and plays in detail. That's why it has been hard for him to play well with Chinese teammates. To make matters worse, Jihoon "Easyhoon" Lee was not playing as well as he had been in last year, so his role as a shotcaller has been difficult for him as well."

Despite HunTeR's apology, however, the fans were still upset. Fans have expressed their concerns by saying that: "It doesn't seem right for a team's owner to be badmouthing his player", "Bengi is not the reason for the team's decline", and "We should apologize to Bengi and Korean fans who will find HunTeR's comment offensive".

Vici Gaming is currently at fifth place among six teams in Group B of 2017 LPL Spring Split with a disappointing 2-6 record. However, if HunTeR's promise - that he is doing whatever it takes to avoid the team's relegation - is to be believed, it should be a turning point for Vici Gaming on their mission to escape relegation.
