Original story:

Riot Games has discussed its intention to overhaul items in League of Legends for season 11, and a few weeks before the 2020 World Championship, a new core concept for LoL in 2021 was introduced: Mythic items.

What are Mythic items in League of Legends?

Mythic items will be an entirely new concept to League and will serve as the cornerstone to champion item builds. Only one Mythic item will be able to be built per champion, and similar to items upgraded by Ornn's Living Forge passive, the Mythic item will have an effect on the rest of the champion's item build and abilities.  Mythic item price points are amongst the most expensive in the game, which is indicative of their power and transformative effect on the state of the game.

Since one Mythic item can only be built at one time, the Mythic effects of these items are being designed with the intention to smooth out any potential identity crises older champions may have with the newer, updated stage of the game while simultaneously providing unique strategic angles to get past a power trough or min-max fully into a champion's core strengths.

When are Mythic items coming to League of Legends?

Mythic items are one of the core changes being made to League of Legends' shop and item system for 2021, and the pre-season for season 11 should start towards the end of 2020. Mythic items should be hitting the League of Legends PBE in a few weeks for testing.

It's worth mentioning that Lead Game Designer Mark "Riot Scruffy" Yetter has stated that some Mythic items won't be brand new items. Some may be augmentations to or combinations of older items, and all revealed Mythic items thus far are work in progress.

List of League of Legends Mythic items

Riot Games revealed the work-in-progress for three Mythic items being developed for the marksman class: Crimson Shieldbow, Galeforce, and Behemoth Slayer.

The only Mythic items that have been revealed by Riot Games are those intended for the marksman class. However, that doesn't mean there haven't been a few works in progress looks to other items, such as Cursed Demonhelm, which looks to be an item for AP bruisers.

This report will be updated as more Mythic items are revealed by Riot Games in the future.
