[LCK Today] DRX continue their undefeated run with sweep over DYN, AF shuts out HLE

The League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split matches of July 2nd were Hanwha Life Esports vs Afreeca Freecs and DRX vs Team Dynamics.

The first match of the day was between Hanwha Life Esports and Afreeca Freecs. Hanwha Life Esports had a good start as their bot duo was able to evade Afreeca Freecs' gank without losing anything. Through that advantage, they were able to take the lead. However, when Kim "Kiin" Gi-in's Wukong started to join the fights, the game turned around. Not only that, Song "Fly" Yong-joon also had a splendid performance on Orianna. Once they had the lead, it didn't take long for Afreeca Freecs to close the game.

The second game was Kiin all the way. With Kennen, he evaded nearly all ganks efficiently and led his team to victory. Hanwha Life Esports had a slight global gold lead, but they weren’t able to win the teamfights. Fly’s Zoe and Kiin’s Kennen were key players during the fights and Afreeca Freecs swept Hanwha Life Esports to collect their third win of the season. Hanwha Life Esports fell to a five-game losing streak.

Team Dynamics picked Heimerdinger into their bot lane in the first game. It was the first time Heimerdinger appeared in the LCK in 709 days. It was DRX jungler Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon’s Nidalee who pushed ahead in the early game, but Team Dynamics struck back when Pyosik overextended. The fights afterward were balanced out with Team Dynamics having secured more dragons. The teamfight at the 6th dragon decided the game. While Lee “Rich” Jae-won’s Mordekaiser misused his ult on Wukong’s decoy, DRX stole the dragon and scored an Ace, which immediately allowed DRX to finish the game.

DRX didn’t ban Varus from the red side in Game 2. They picked Ezreal and Sett into their bot lane, and it was proved why DRX didn’t ban Varus. Starting with a dive in the early game, DRX bot duo went ahead and stayed ahead for the rest of the game. At 13 minutes, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s Ezreal was already more than 2K gold and two levels ahead of Varus. Besides the bot lane, DRX scored in all parts of the Rift. In 25 minutes, DRX destroyed Team Dynamics’ Nexus.
