Golden Guardians have signed Tanner "Damonte" Damonte to start as their League of Legends Championship Series Mid Laner for this Summer Split. He will be starting ahead of former LCS Mid, Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer, who will be competing with former GGS Academy Mid Laner, Nicholas "Ablazeolive" Abbott for the starting Academy spot. Additionally, Kim "Olleh" Joo-sung is joining the team as a positional coach, assisting the org's Supports.

Damonte most recently played for Dignitas, going to Worlds with the team in 2019, and starting for their Academy roster this Spring. Olleh also played on Dignitas Academy this Spring Split, but previously played on Golden Guardians throughout 2019, making his return to GGS after one Split away. Damonte, Olleh, and Dignitas Academy had a hot start out of the gate this Spring, winning their first seven games and looking unstoppable. However, they struggled at the end of the Split, and fell to Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the first round of the Playoffs.

With Damonte and Olleh's additions to the team, Golden Guardians now have three Mid Laners, three AD Carrys, and three Supports. In their announcement of Olleh, it was stated that he would be a positional coach, however, he is listed in the Global Contract Database as a third Support for the team, meaning - per the LCS ruleset - he would be able to step in and play if needed, unlike if he were listed as a coach. However, as he is currently a non-resident, either Can "Closer" Çelik or Victor "FBI" Huang would have to step down to Academy to avoid breaking the import slot rule.
