Riot Games upcoming tactical shooter VALORANT now has an official release date of June 2nd, and esports organization Immortals wasted no time announcing its first step into the early competitive scene for the game. IMT has signed four of the five players needed to complete a full VALORANT team. A fifth and final player was teased in the announcement, but no information has been made public regarding the roster's completion.

The four players announced for the Immortals VALORANT team are Amgalan “Genghsta” Nemekhbayar, Yannick “KOLER” Blanchette, Joseph “Bjorlulu” Bjorklund, and Noah "jcStani" Smith. Three of the four players boast a background in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with jcStani standing as the sole talent native to the young VALORANT scene. It is currently unknown if IMT has signed a 5th player to round out its starting roster.

The video accompanying Immortals' Twitter announcement features the IMT twitter account in a VALORANT lobby being joined by the four players signed. One by one, the players join the lobby and the video cuts to a series of quick highlight clips showing each individual's prowess in VALORANT. The video ends with Genghsta saying, "This is crazy! Who's next?"

Immortals is the fifth organization to sign VALORANT talent. T1 signed former CS:GO proffesional players Braxton "Brax" Pierce and Keven "AZK" Larivière, who were teammates on iBUYPOWER, as the first VALORANT competitive signings. Tyson "TenZ" Ngo was previously a CS:GO player and a streamer for Cloud9, but is now the organization's first professional VALORANT player. Across the Atlantic Ocean, Ninjas in Pyjamas converted their entire Paladins squad to a VALORANT team.

Sentinels made a splash when Jay "sinatraa" Won, reigning Overwatch League MVP and star DPS of OWL champion San Francisco Shock, abruptly announced his retirement from Overwatch to play VALORANT for Sentinels. TSM is also on the hunt for competitive VALORANT talent.
