AFS Jelly: "I realized that being a starting member is a lot tougher than I thought."

On the 21st (KST), Afreeca Freecs faced off against SANDBOX Gaming in Week 3 of the 2020 LCK Spring. In the rematch of the 2019 KeSPA Cup finals, Afreeca, once again, took down SANDBOX with a set score of 2-1. Ornn proved to be the key to victory, as his vast amount of CC, his ability to upgrade his and his teammates’ items, and the frontline presence that comes from his supreme tanky nature proved to be too much for SANDBOX.

The support for Afreeca Freecs and the Player of the Game (PoG) for game 3, Son “Jelly” Ho-gyeong, joined the Press Room to talk about the victory.

Thoughts on the victory on the KeSPA Cup rematch?

Although I’m not satisfied with my performance tonight, I’m glad that we could take the victory.

What do you think went wrong in game 2?

The enemy team composition was really hard to deal with. Not only that, it was better overall, so after game 2, the coaches told us that the next game will be better.

Some claim that Blitzcrank is a counterpick Thresh. What are your thoughts on the matchup?

It’s definitely viable into Thresh, but I don’t know about it being a counterpick. If the team needs me to play Blitzcrank in certain situations, I’ll play it.

Ornn was the key champion to winning all the games tonight..

The general consensus is that it’s a good champion, and the winrate speaks for itself. That’s why it’s natural to be a key champion in winning. Although it can be banned, there are other champions that have a higher priority in bans, so I think that’s why teams leave it open.

Afreeca seems very fragile against DRX last week. What kind of feedback was there after that match?

The coaches told us that we played as if we forgot the basics, so they told us to remember the fundamentals of the game. However, I feel like I performed worse tonight than vs. DRX.

You’re one of the oldest remaining members on Afreeca.

I always wanted to play on stage, and since last Summer, I was brimming with confidence. I was confident that I’ll perform well on any team, and after renegotiations with Afreeca’s management, I decided to stay with the team.

You are finally the starting support for Afreeca.

Despite only playing 5 matches, I realized that being a starting member is a lot tougher than I thought.

Your next match is against KT Rolster.

Although there’s players that I played with 2 years ago, I’ll make sure to end the week with 2 wins.

Finally, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Although my performance vs. DRX must’ve been very concerning, I’ll make sure to work hard to perform better and blow your worries away.
