According to a report by ESPN Esports Brasil, Flamengo’s esports venture will be administered by NBA Memphis Grizzlies’ sister company. Simplicity Esports will be responsible for Flamengo eSports in Brazil and in the USA. This is the first time a Brazilian esports organization licenses their brand, opening the doors to participating in competitions all over the globe.

Flamengo first received the multi-million dollar offer in the beginning of last year, in which Simplicity would use the team’s name as their main esports brand moving forward. According to the report, Flamengo had first declined the original offer of U$ 3 million due to concentrating their efforts in the soccer field; as of right now, it is unknown what the terms and offers for the new contract are like.

Simplicity has built an ecosystem of gaming experts to assist them in the new move: OutField, a Brazilian esports company that focuses on marketing strategy and management will assist the project in the commercial capacity. Team oNe has joined the project to fulfill all training facility needs with the addition of One Academy in São Paulo, where CBLoL players are already training for the new split.

With the new partnership in focus, it is noted that Team oNe and OutField have no direct relationship with Flamengo eSports in the management capacity. The new partnership will lead Flamengo to explore other titles than League of Legends, as Simplicity Esports has ventured in Apex Legends, Smite, PUBG, National Hockey League (NHL) and Gears of War.
