KURO GAMES held a special broadcast today (17th) ahead of the 3.3 version update for its open-world RPG, Wuthering Waves. The broadcast featured CEO Solon and key developers, who shared news on the game's 2nd anniversary, 3.3 version updates and events, various improvements, and new collaborations.

New 5-Star Glacio Resonator 'Hiyuki' and Fusion Rectifier 'Dennia' Arrive

In version 3.3, 'Echoes Reached at the End of the Starry Sea,' the Rover heads deep beneath Lahai-Roi to the 'Strider Anchor' to save Aimes. The Strider Anchor, along with the Strider Gate, was left behind by the Exostrider and is located at the Source Tree of the Sun in the middle of the Dark Plains. This version will depict the Rover's struggle to complete the Exostrider project and rescue Aimes before the seal on the Threnodian Aleph-One is broken.

The broadcast then introduced the new Resonator joining this journey: Hiyuki. Hiyuki is a 5-star Glacio Broadblade Resonator and the sole member of the Spacetrek Collective's Special Response Team. She arrived in Lahai-Roi from the outside for unknown reasons and gained the power to combat the Threnodian by pulling the future forward.

In her normal state, Hiyuki uses dual blades and a bow to strike enemies rapidly. When using her Resonance Skill, she leaps and dashes at enemies, dealing continuous Glacio damage. Upon activating her Resonance Liberation, she enters the 'Foresight' state, allowing her to assault enemies with blades made of ice. During this time, her normal attacks charge special energy; once fully charged, she causes ice trees to grow near enemies, dealing AoE Glacio damage. Additionally, dodging in certain attack states triggers a special state that launches enemies, allowing for stylish aerial combos. After Resonance Liberation, she can trigger an Enhanced Resonance Liberation for even more powerful AoE damage.

Denia, who has been the subject of numerous rumors since her initial reveal, arrives in Version 3.3 as a 5-star Fusion Amplifier Resonator. She primarily attacks enemies by wielding a staff to summon bubbles; when using her Resonance Skill, she gathers bubbles of starlight and bursts them to deal significant area-of-effect damage. Upon activating her Resonance Liberation, she transforms into her 'Disillusioned Form,' trading her bubble-based attacks for demonic hands that allow her to strike enemies with greater speed and power. During Resonance Liberation, she can accumulate special energy with each attack, which can be spent to unleash an Enhanced Resonance Liberation that creates and drops magical orbs onto enemies. Upon impact, these orbs deploy a special zone that pulls in and damages nearby foes.

In addition to the Hiyuki and Dennia banners, rerun banners were also announced. During Hiyuki's banner, Yuno and Monie will return, while Chisha and Phrolova will return alongside Dennia's banner. Weapon banners for each character will also be rerun accordingly.

The Dangerous New 'Dark Plains' Region, Bike Upgrades, and New Gimmicks

The broadcast then introduced the main stage of version 3.3, the 'Dark Plains.' Infused with the power of the Threnodian of Lament, the area is largely destroyed by Void Storms. The Rover will explore this region throughout version 3.3 to open the Strider Gate located there.

With the area devastated by Void Storms, the exploration bike will receive upgrades in version 3.3. First, a 'Hover' mode will be added to the bike as the side quest progresses. This allows the player to glide for a certain distance using hover energy.

A new 'Gliding Strategy' module will also be added to the bike. Unlocking the Charge Jump feature allows for vertical mobility, which can be combined with the Hover state to reach greater heights and overcome obstacles more efficiently. Charge Jump can be used up to three times consecutively, with the count resetting upon landing. Equipping the 'Energy Recovery' core module speeds up the Charge Jump cooldown for rapid-fire jumps, while the 'High-Efficiency Thruster' core module reduces hover energy consumption during dashes while in Hover state. To complement these bike updates, new Gliding Tracks will be added to test these features.

With the unlocking of the Dark Plains, a new regular content mode, 'Paradox Region Exploration,' will also open. Players can find and nurture four trees eroded by Voidmatter; completing missions and meeting conditions will reward them with 'Refraction Fruit,' a rare research sample. Delivering these to exploration outposts expands the base, increases exploration progress, and alters the surrounding ecosystem. Rewards include the exploration bike skin 'Light Heading Deeper,' the profile picture 'Churu!', and Astrite.

New puzzle gimmicks include the 'Light Caster,' 'Voidmatter Puzzle,' and 'Light Imprint.' The 'Light Caster' involves rotating blocks after activating the device to match the blocks' shadows with a target image. The 'Voidmatter Puzzle' is a Tetris-style game where the Rover must control blocks to survive as long as possible while scoring points.

'Light Imprint' refers to a technique that uses the energy of the Sun Spirit to activate Exostrider parts, used for various gimmicks like creating light platforms. Activating a 'Light Imprint Emitter' releases Exostrider energy to destroy Voidmatter-contaminated devices. Other 'Light Imprint Parts' are used to purify eroded plants around Voidmatter.

Beyond side quests, two new Dangerous Missions will be unlocked. In 'A Perfect Flight Day,' players explore ancient, mysterious ruins with Sigrika and the Sun Spirit to obtain the 'Anomaly - Echo - Chronocloud.' In the other mission, 'Heart of the Fragmented Dark Plains,' players work with Monie and the Sun Spirit to counter Voidmatter contamination.

Resident Evil Collaboration Skins? Version 3.3 is Packed with Events

Version 3.3 will feature events seen in previous new region launches, such as the Dark Plains Tracking event and a commemorative photo collection event. The 'Depths of Illusive Realm - Fleeting Dream' will also return for a limited time, set in Honami City and featuring Namiphone. The number of stages, fields, and playable Resonators has increased, with more diverse Ability and Echo settings. A difficulty adjustment mode has also been added.

Another combat event, 'Challenge! Combat Degree Exam!', consists of seven sets of stages, each divided into a preliminary round and a final round. Completing the preliminary round allows players to carry over buffs to the final round, with rewards including Astrite. The version 3.3 side quest exploration event takes place in the Roya Ice Fields, and Sigillum is added to Hologram Strategy-Synchronization.

A two-part collaboration skin event will also be held. 'Otherworld Link 1' features skins from Kaiju No. 8, Angry Birds, and Resident Evil. 'Otherworld Link 2' offers skins from Pragmata, Riders Republic, and Haikyu!!. Additionally, Hiyuki skins and Monie's special edition costume 'Cozy Dream' will be released in the shop. Purchasing Monie's costume also grants a matching profile picture. A new theme for the in-game social media 'Waveline,' titled 'Sweet Coffee's Golden Seal,' will also be introduced, featuring wallpapers and chat bubbles inspired by Chisha and Namiphone's cafe.

To celebrate the 3.3 update and the 2nd anniversary, the first-time top-up bonus for Lunite will be reset. A 'Sea Tide's Gratitude' point exchange event will also be held. Completing tuning and activity missions grants 'Bubbles in Flowing Melodies,' which can be exchanged for rewards including limited-time pull tickets (Radiant Tide), Hiyuki's accessory 'No-Thought,' and Dennia's accessory 'Dennia's Doll,' along with some past limited-time rewards.

Mobile Resource Size Reduced by Up to 13GB, 2nd Anniversary In-Game Events and Improvements

Following last year's 'Rice Ball' event, a new mini-game event will be held for the 2nd anniversary. 'Star Bouncing' is a pinball-themed mini-game where players must not only bounce the ball but also activate active skills to defeat enemies. Players can enjoy different styles as they level up or acquire tactical cartridges. The Rice Ball Championship also returns for the 2nd anniversary with new mechanics.

The 2nd anniversary limited-time commission event 'Mumu Logistics: Mission Accomplished!' will also be held. Missions will open weekly, offering various rewards. Logging in after the 3.3 update grants 10 Radiant Tides and 10 Crystal Solvents via the Festival Gift page. Logging in on the 2nd anniversary, May 23rd, grants an additional 10 Radiant Tides and the 2nd anniversary commemorative profile picture 'Tide Sounds Resounding Again'

Improvements were also mentioned. Bike controls, including bunny hops and lighting effects, have been improved for better handling, and the Movie Mode now supports more diverse camera work. Starting in version 3.3, a new animation will play when pulling for signature weapons, with animations for existing characters' weapons to be added gradually.

The UI is also being overhauled. The Resonator list and party screens are improved in version 3.3, with new indicators and switching functions for Resonance modes. Visual consistency across pages will be enhanced. For a smoother experience, a self-developed frame interpolation technology will be applied to mobile devices, with details to be announced later. DLSS and DLAA options will be added to improve image clarity, allowing players on compatible devices to enjoy Wuthering Waves at native resolution. Field interaction graphics and feedback will also be improved.

To address concerns about increasing file size, the mobile client's resource selection and cleanup features have been enhanced. Players can now selectively delete map field resources in addition to past story resources. The minimum download size required to start the game has been reduced to approximately 28GB on Android.

May 29-31 Festival and World Tour: Active Offline Events for Wuthering Waves 2nd Anniversary

Finally, collaborations and offline events for the 2nd anniversary were introduced. A collaboration with gaming gear brand Razer will feature Dennia-themed gaming peripherals. An S.H.Figuarts action figure of Aimes' Mecha-Stout form will be released, and a collaboration with Funism will offer mini-pouches themed after various Resonators. Details will be announced via official communities.

As for official merchandise, the Wuthering Waves PS5 Collector's Edition will be released on April 30th. It includes a PS5 disc, postcards, in-game item redemption codes, an acrylic stand, and an acrylic shikishi, and will be sold sequentially at global online and offline stores. New merchandise themed after the 'Guardians of the Stars'—Carlotta, Yuno, Brent, and Augusta—will also be released via global mail order, with schedules to be announced later.

Offline collaboration and event news were also revealed. A collaboration with Musinsa begins on May 19th, featuring apparel. Following an animation by artist Ar, a 2nd anniversary offline festival will be held in Korea, as well as in Japan. The festival will take place from May 29th to 31st at KINTEX Exhibition Center II, Hall 9 in Ilsan, featuring interactive experiences, stage events, and fan-art booths.

A 'World Tour' was also announced, spanning Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, LA, Seoul, and Singapore. This concert series will feature new arrangements of Wuthering Waves' music, with details and schedules to be released via the official lounge.
