Nexon Launches ARC Raiders Worldwide: New PvPvE Extraction Shooter From Embark Studios

Nexon (Co-CEOs Dae-hyun Kang and Jungwook Kim) announced on the 30th that its subsidiary Embark Studios, led by CEO Patrick Söderlund, has launched the new PvPvE extraction-adventure title ARC Raiders globally across all platforms.

ARC Raiders is an extraction-adventure shooter set on a ruined future Earth—an evocative take on the post-post-apocalypse. Players step into the role of survivors known as Raiders, who must secure resources while engaging in firefights against mechanized lifeforms called ARC, advancing their expeditions by cooperating with—or competing against—other players.

During the “Server Slam” stress test held on the 17th, ARC Raiders recorded approximately 190,000 peak concurrent users on Steam and around 220,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch. It went on to rank No. 3 on Steam’s wishlist charts and No. 1 on the global sales chart, signaling strong enthusiasm ahead of the official launch.

The release version introduces a structure in which players alternate between surface exploration and underground survival. On the surface, players can gather resources and battle ARC across four distinct environments—Dam, Buried City, Spaceport, and Blue Gate. Underground, at the base settlement known as Speranza, players can craft equipment, trade with NPCs, accept quests, and enjoy a wide range of progression and lifestyle content.

The ARC, the game’s core hostile faction, are autonomous machine lifeforms that dominate the surface and pose a constant threat during expeditions. They appear in various forms with unique attack patterns—including the Tick, Snitch, Leaper, and Rocketeer—and once a player is detected, they send signals to nearby ARC units to converge and attack in force. The colossal Queen serves as a boss-tier entity equipped with powerful offensive and defensive capabilities, delivering the toughest combat encounters in the field.

Embark Studios—already recognized as a rising next-generation shooter developer thanks to the technical expertise and inventive game design demonstrated with THE FINALS—has continued to draw global attention. “As we approached launch, the many suggestions we received from players around the world helped us elevate the game’s overall quality,” said Aleksander Grøndal, Executive Producer of ARC Raiders. “We thank everyone who has waited so long for ARC Raiders, and we ask for your continued interest and excitement now that the game is officially available.”
