Netmarble has rolled out the first update for its recently launched idle RPG, The King of Fighters AFK. The update introduces a fan-favorite fighter, new summoning opportunities, and several limited-time events designed to keep players engaged in the weeks ahead.
Terry Bogard, one of the most recognizable characters from SNK’s long-running King of Fighters series, makes his debut in the game as a playable fighter. To mark his arrival, Netmarble is hosting the Terry Bogard Pick-Up Event, which runs until Oct. 1 and offers players boosted chances to add him to their roster.
In addition, a [Deathblow] Synergy Fighter Summon Event is available through Oct. 1, giving players higher odds of recruiting fighters with [Deathblow] synergy traits. The ongoing Summer Festival Event, active until Sept. 24, allows players to earn the Legendary Pet “Koyo.”
A Strong Start In Multiple Markets
Since its launch on Sept. 4, The King of Fighters AFK has quickly gained traction across Asia. The game placed among the “Top 10 Free Apps” on both the App Store and Google Play in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore. It also claimed the No. 1 spot on the App Store in Hong Kong and Macau, signaling early momentum for Netmarble’s latest release.
The mobile title reimagines the cast of The King of Fighters with pixel art visuals reminiscent of The King of Fighters R-2 on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Gameplay revolves around strategic team-building, with players able to combine up to 15 fighters in 5v5 combat formations.
Netmarble has positioned The King of Fighters AFK as both an homage to the classic franchise and a modern idle RPG designed for long-term engagement. The company encourages fans to follow official social media channels on Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube for ongoing updates.
First introduced in the 1990s, SNK’s The King of Fighters franchise has spanned more than 15 mainline titles and remains one of the most enduring fighting game series worldwide.
