Fnatic Rekkles: "Honestly, I don’t know how to put it in words. It is such a special day for us"

In the last match of the day, FNC defeated GAM allowing FNC to proceed into the quarterfinals. Despite losing all 3 games in the first week and losing a game today against Longzhu, FNC came back by beating both IMT and GAM. Securing their place, FNC put both IMT and GAM 2-4.

Defeating IMT and GAM yet again for the tiebreakers, FNC wrote an inspiring ‘started from the bottom now we are here’ story today. Scoring a loss, loss, loss ,loss, win, win, win, win, FNC showed how dramatic a comeback story can be.

After the game, FNC’s ADC, Rekkles, was interviewed. Let’s see what he has to say about their comeback!

¤ What is going through your mind right now going to the quarterfinals?

Honestly, I don’t know how to put it in words. It is such a special day for us. For me, I think I really underperformed, especially the Immortals game. People will remember that moment for a LONG time. I try my best to play better and help out the team. When we pull out these wins back to back, I get these emotions that are really special and you only get to live through those once. It is out of this world… it is something else… I am glad I am apart of it.

¤ Caps said that you guys weren’t playing 100% as a team. What happened? What did you guys do to give 100% and secure your spot?

I don’t agree on the 100% part. Like in the Marines game, I don’t think there was much of what we could have done. It was a out of the blue lane swap. Even when checking their performance in the summer, they had one out of 40 games with lane swaps. We just had no idea what was going on in the game. I guess with Immortals, we would have won if it wasn't for my mistake. Longzhu is a team that is not on our level… they are just so far above us. I don’t think we didn’t give a 100%. I think we just didn’t know what the other teams did in the first week. After time to prepare and figuring out what everyone is good at/pretty bad against, I felt like we had a much better plan going into today. It felt like we had a much better game for every team, even Longzhu compared to last Sunday. I think we were just not as well prepared as the other teams. This is something we need to figure out in the future as now we are playing against one team in the quarterfinals (best of 5). If we cannot prepare for that, we are just going to go home 0-3. We just have to make sure we are prepared as much as we can for the next opponent.
