Yungeon, the New Main DPS for Magic Decks
Blessing, Health Conversion, and 6-Transcendence Chain Attacks Are Key
Yungeon, introduced in Seven Knights Re:BIRTH, is a Magic-type hero who functions as a main DPS capable of clearing the battlefield on his own with AoE attacks and high survivability. Right after his release, he showcased enough firepower to reshape the Arena meta, cementing his position as the new starter for Magic decks.
The core of his kit is his passive skill, Bureaucrat of Shinji. Awakened Yungeon gains Blessing, ensuring single-instance damage never exceeds 25% of his maximum HP, while also gaining a shield equal to 185% of his Magic Attack. On top of that, his Critical Hit Rate and Weakness Attack Rate both increase by 50%, making his gear optimization relatively forgiving.
His survivability ramps up significantly when paired with three or more Magic-type heroes. He gains 1 stack of All Damage Immunity per basic attack and 2 stacks per skill cast, stacking up to 6 times. When struck by crowd control, he cleanses all debuffs once per battle and gains CC immunity for 2 turns. Therefore, team compositions featuring at least three Magic units are strongly recommended when using Yungeon.
He also features an effect that inflicts additional Piercing damage on 3 enemies every two attacks. Because this damage scales not only with his Magic Attack but also with the target's maximum HP, it is especially effective for stripping Damage Immunity and wearing down high-HP Defense deck heroes.

Among his active skills, Rapid Fire stands out the most. It converts all enemies' HP to 39% and then deals 3 hits of Piercing damage that scale higher as the target's current HP increases. Against targets with 50% or higher current HP, it has a 40% chance to inflict Aura—a new crowd control effect—for 2 turns. Enemies afflicted by Aura cannot act and take additional Fixed Damage equal to 15% of Yungeon's Attack whenever they are struck.
Ten-Shot Cannon attacks 4 enemies and removes 2 buffs. While it cannot remove Damage Immunity, Damage Nullification, or Will, stripping general buffs prepares the field for follow-up attacks. His Awakening skill, Volley Fire, targets all enemies with Aura while dealing 65% Defense-ignoring damage, serving as a reliable finisher.
Yungeon reaches full potential at 6-Transcendence. When he scores a kill with Ten-Shot Cannon, it triggers Rapid Fire at 70% power; when he scores a kill with Rapid Fire, it triggers Ten-Shot Cannon, up to once continuously. Securing just a single kill through HP conversion and AoE attacks triggers a secondary skill activation, instantly flipping momentum in your favor.

Primary Battlefield Is the Arena
Thriving in the Main DPS Position
Yungeon's primary domain is PvP content. Rapid Fire's Health Conversion first slashes high opponent HP pools, while his Defense Ignore and Piercing attacks punch through survival buffs. At 6-Transcendence, securing a kill with a skill hit triggers chain attacks, capable of completely turning the tide of battle at once.
Against Offense and Magic decks, Blessing and Damage Immunity are vital. They allow him to withstand potent enemy burst attacks, convert opponent HP with Rapid Fire, and exhaust Will and Damage Immunity with follow-up AoE attacks. When Aura lands, it can completely lock down key enemy heroes.
Against Defense decks, Health Conversion and target-max-HP-proportional damage shine brightest. After reducing the HP of highly resilient Defense teams down to 39%, he unleashes overwhelming firepower through Defense-ignoring strikes and buff dispels. Demonstrating a flawless performance across PvP, Yungeon boasts a strong presence not only in the Arena, but also in Advanced Arena, Total War, and Guild War.
As a side note, depending on his build, Yungeon also excels as a fodder-farming carry. If your existing farmers like Freya, Omok, or Lu Bu fall short on stats, considering Yungeon for fodder farming is a solid choice.

Which Heroes Pair Well with Yungeon?
Used in Pure Magic Decks and Paired with Seonran
If placing Yungeon into a traditional Magic deck, a core composed of Skuld, Dongyeong, and Reginleif is standard. Players often flex in Omok, Yeonhee, or Melkir to round out the lineup. This setup naturally satisfies the requirement of having three or more Magic heroes, letting Yungeon fully utilize both his Damage Immunity stacks and debuff cleanse. Meanwhile, Freya, who previously anchored Magic decks, has fallen down the priority list.
Full 5-Magic-hero compositions focus heavily on Speed Attack to secure turn initiative, enabling seamless skill synergy between Skuld and Yungeon. Speed Attack has traditionally been vital for Magic decks, and with Yungeon joining Skuld—who scales brilliantly with Speed Attack—there is little reason to give up turn priority. Naturally, builds focused more on baseline defensive stats remain viable depending on accessory availability.
A hybrid composition utilizing Seonran, Yungeon, Dongyeong, Carl Heron, and Orca is another strong choice, often referred to as the "Yungeon Offense Deck." Since this lineup fails to meet the 3-Magic-hero threshold, Yungeon loses his Damage Immunity stacking and debuff cleanse. However, he retains his Blessing, Shield, base Crit/Weakness Attack buffs, Health Conversion, and 6-Transcendence skill chains, leaving his offensive power largely intact. Pairing strong utility/support heroes with Seonran and Yungeon makes this build a frequent sight in current Arena play.
In Total War, splitting Magic decks around Yungeon has become a popular trend. From Rare tiers onward, he is even used in place of Instant Death teams. In these strategies, Team 1 builds around Freya, while Team 2 slots Yungeon alongside Yeonhee, Skuld, Milia, and Juri. This setup emphasizes Juri's revival prevention, Yungeon's raw firepower, and Skuld's utility.

Gear: Chaser or Assassin Set
Recommended to Use the Set with Better Sub-Stats
For gear, players generally choose between the Chaser set and the Assassin set. His passive base stats boost Crit Rate by 27% and Weakness Attack Rate by 32%, which scale up to 50% upon Awakening, making his gear options highly versatile. Reaching 2-Transcendence adds 40% Defense Ignore to both Skill 1 and Skill 2, creating great synergy with the Assassin set. Furthermore, his Awakening skill features a 65% Defense Ignore effect.
However, forcing the Assassin set is unnecessary. Depending on sub-stats, the Chaser set offers comparable efficiency. You can select either Assassin or Chaser after considering your team synergy, Speed Attack priority, and available sub-stats. Aim to cap both Crit Rate and Weakness Attack Rate at 100% (including passive buffs), and stack Crit Damage and All Attack % whenever possible.
In addition, All Attack %, Effect Resistance, and Effect Hit Rate are valuable stats, so maximizing them through sub-stats is advised. In max Speed Attack Magic decks, focusing heavily on Speed Attack forces compromises on other stats, whereas hybrid setups paired with Seonran tend to prioritize utility stats like Effect Hit Rate and Effect Resistance over raw speed.
For Exclusive Equipment Tuning, Crush is the primary candidate to maximize damage against Defense decks. If a max Speed Attack build leaves Crit Damage lacking, Damage Amplification is a viable alternative. If you aim to hit Ten-Shot Cannon's buff dispel and Aura against high-Effect Resistance Offense and Magic teams, Effect Hit Rate is also a good choice.

Transcendence goals depend clearly on your intended usage. At 2-Transcendence, Ten-Shot Cannon and Rapid Fire gain 40% Defense Ignore, serving as the minimum benchmark for PvE and secondary Total War teams. Even at low Transcendence levels, core abilities like Health Conversion, Aura, and Blessing remain available, making him immediately deployable.
However, to use Yungeon as a primary starter in the Arena, 6-Transcendence becomes crucial. The post-kill continuous skill activations complete his AoE carry capability. Because the performance gap between 2-Transcendence and 6-Transcendence is so noticeable, aiming for 6-Transcendence is highly recommended whenever possible.
In summary, Yungeon is a top-priority main DPS pick-up for anyone running Magic decks. If your focus is solely on PvE and Total War, stopping at 2-Transcendence is an option, but if you intend to use him as a main Arena starter, securing 6-Transcendence during the pick-up banner is strongly advised. Even if you do not run pure Magic decks, his utility in Seonran hybrid builds and various PvE modes makes pushing Transcendence as high as possible worth considering during this banner.
