2K has unveiled details for a major update to the looter shooter 'Borderlands 4,' developed by Gearbox Software.

This '1.8 Update' will go live on the 25th, simultaneously introducing the third Bounty Pack, 'Killer Jane,' and the endgame raid content, 'Hadron Abyss Elimination.' Additionally, the long-awaited cross-platform save feature will be officially supported.

The paid downloadable content (DLC) 'Bounty Pack 3: Killer Jane' features a new story and a lineup of rare gear. Players can purchase the story expansion 'Killer Jane' and 'Vault Card 3' separately. In this episode, players will journey into a neon-noir arcade game world to track down the culprit behind the murder of 'Jane's' digiclone backup.

The in-game content offers a repeatable mission featuring one new boss and two mini-bosses. The core mechanic involves entering the virtual digital world to collect clues and uncover the identity of the 'Digi-Killer.' Through 'Vault Card 3,' players can earn 24 arcade-themed cosmetic items and 4 pieces of equipment that allow for stat rerolls as rewards.

Beyond the paid content, the update also includes 'Hadron Abyss Elimination,' which is free for all players. Accessible via the raid board in the main hub after completing the main campaign, the mission is set in the 'Hadron Abyss,' an underwater research facility teeming with mutated creatures and aquatic predators. The goal is to defeat the final boss, 'Child of Terramorphous.'

Dungeon difficulty scales automatically based on party size, and for those seeking a greater challenge, the update supports 'Mayhem' levels and Hardcore mode.

Successful clears reward players with one new teal-tier weapon, nine new legendary pieces of equipment, and five new class mods, one for each Vault Hunter. Meanwhile, a sixth class mod is scheduled to be added in 'Story Pack 2,' which is slated for release in the third quarter.

The future update roadmap has also been revealed. 'Update 1.9' and 'Bounty Pack 4: Hostile Takeover' will launch on July 30, followed by the simultaneous release of 'Bounty Pack 5' and 'Story Pack 2' in early September. Notably, 'Story Pack 2' will introduce a new Vault Hunter, 'Hacker Lovelace.'

'Lovelace' is a character who transitioned from a hacker at 'Anshin' to an assassin. Her mechanics involve sharing a mental link with digital viruses she creates and manifesting them into physical forms to use in combat. Further data will be released in due course.

Purchasers of the 'Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition' package will automatically have access to the full 'Bounty Pack Bundle' (Bounty Packs 2, 3, 4, and 5) and the 'Vault Hunter Pack' (Story Packs 1 and 2). Deluxe Edition purchasers will receive only the 'Bounty Pack Bundle.' Individual 'Bounty Packs' and 'Story Packs' can also be purchased separately.
