Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks Takes Flight with the New Vehicle and Maps

Warhammer Day has landed with a bang — or more accurately, a WAAAGH! — as Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks receives a major free update that brings aerial combat to the green-skinned battlefield. Publisher Wired Productions and developer Caged Element have revealed that players can now soar above the chaos with the fan-favorite Deffkopta vehicle, a new addition that marks the game’s first foray into flight. The update also includes two brand-new maps designed for high-speed, high-explosive mayhem.

To mark the celebration, Speed Freeks is currently available at 55% off as part of Games Workshop’s Warhammer Sale event. A new gameplay trailer showcasing the Deffkopta’s airborne antics is now available on YouTube.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks Takes Flight with the New Deffkopta Vehicle, Plus Two Intense New Maps in a Free Update for Orktober

The Deffkopta — a long-standing icon in the Warhammer 40,000 universe — offers a new layer of strategy and chaos. Players can zip through the air, unleash strafing fire on enemies, and divebomb their rivals in mid-race. According to Game Director Chris Mallinson, this update transforms the game’s flow: “This new vehicle really changes the dynamic of the game,” Mallinson said. “It fits right in with the rest of the roster, and we can’t wait to see how players use it. It’s a blast just to fly around.”

Alongside the Deffkopta, two new maps expand the roster of raceways. “Scrap In Da Yard” introduces vertical skirmishes and tight trench runs, while “Deff Gorge” reimagines a classic battleground with an expanded layout and new visual overhaul.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a multiplayer combat racer that blends the reckless energy of Ork engineering with explosive vehicular warfare. Players can now experience both land and air combat with no microtransactions or paid DLC. The Deffkopta & New Maps Update is available today on Steam as a completely free download — celebrating Orktober in the loudest way possible.
