Cloud9 has swept 100 Thieves in its first match of the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Mid-Season Showdown. Cloud9 will face Team Liquid in the next round of the upper bracket, while 100 Thieves will be dropped down to the lower bracket for an elimination match against Dignitas.

TSM won its ninth game of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split against Counter Logic Gaming, and in doing so, joined Cloud9 and Team Liquid in post-season qualification. The gold lead swapped between TSM and CLG more than a couple of times, but when the dust settled, TSM remained standing and clinched a position in the 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs.
