'Arizona Sunshine,' the beloved VR title, is returning as a third-person shooter.
Today (the 6th, local time), Vertigo Games unveiled 'Arizona Sunshine' at the Future Games Show. This title continues the 'Arizona Sunshine' series, which has grown primarily on VR platforms since the release of the first VR game in 2016, followed by a sequel in 2023 and a remake of the original in 2024. For the first time in the series, it adopts a third-person perspective and is being developed to be playable on standard PCs without the need for a VR headset.
The story is based on the narrative of Arizona Sunshine 2. The protagonist is Sunny, a survivor who has spent so much time alone in the desert that they have started talking to zombies, even giving them names like 'Fred.' The narrative centers on an Arizona road trip alongside a canine companion named Buddy, exploring themes of survival, loneliness, and the bond between human and dog.
Additionally, this title supports cooperative play. Co-op is available both online and via two-player local split-screen. Notably, this entry allows players to directly control Buddy for the first time; Buddy can detect hidden items and take down zombies. Weapons include shotguns, machetes, and flamethrowers, and the game will also feature various character customization options.
Arizona Sunshine is expected to be released in 2026 and is currently available to add to your Steam wishlist.
