LCK 2026 Media Day: Gen.G named overwhelming title favourite as Gen.G picks T1

The team most frequently named by LCK squads as the strongest title contender was, once again, Gen.G Esports.

At the ‘2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK)’ media day held on the 26th at LoL Park in Jongno, nine of the 10 LCK teams in attendance selected Gen.G Esports as the favourite to win this season. Since teams were not allowed to choose themselves, it was effectively a near-unanimous vote.

Kiwoom DRX head coach Cho "Joker" Jae-eup explained the reasoning by saying, “Each player’s individual ability suits the current meta very well, and they’re just good.” T1 acting head coach Im "Tom" Jae-hyeon and DN SOOPers head coach Ju "oDin" Yeong-dal also said that “all five players are strong across the board, without any obvious weaknesses.”

Dplus KIA head coach Kim "cvMax" Dae-ho said, “Gen.G is good in many different areas. On top of that, they’ve already experienced bad-case scenarios, so I think that could make them even better.” BNK FEARX head coach Park "Edo" Jun-seok and Hanwha Life Esports head coach Yoon "Homme" Sung-young added, “From what we’ve seen in tournaments and in scrims, Gen.G looks like the best team.”

Nongshim RedForce head coach Choi "DanDy" In-kyu said, “Gen.G has shown a lot of near-flawless performances,” while kt Rolster head coach Go "Score" Dong-bin gave a similar reason, describing them as “the team that makes the fewest mistakes.” Hanjin BRION head coach Kim "Ssong" Sang-soo likewise explained, “Gen.G has a lot of strengths across the board.”

Having received the overwhelming majority of votes, Gen.G head coach Yoo "Ryu" Sang-wook selected T1 as his pick for the title favourite. Coach Yoo explained, “I think T1 always shows strong form in matches.”
