NC (co-CEOs Kim Taek-jin and Park Byung-moo) has announced plans to release a mobile version of its MMORPG, 'Guild Wars Reforged.'
Guild Wars Reforged is a PC online MMORPG developed by ArenaNet, NC's North American development studio. NC plans to launch the mobile version this summer.
Since its release on PC and Steam last December, Guild Wars Reforged has consistently introduced new content and quality-of-life updates. It retains the identity of the original 2005 'Guild Wars' while adding modern convenience and compatibility features.
ArenaNet is developing a mobile version of Guild Wars Reforged in collaboration with co-developer 2weeks. The mobile version will feature a new UI and control scheme optimized for Android and iOS environments. Users who have already purchased Guild Wars Reforged and hold an ArenaNet account will be able to continue their game on mobile devices without any additional purchase. Players will be able to play on the same servers as the PC version, with all progress synchronized.
Ahead of the official launch, NC will conduct a soft launch of the mobile version in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Philippines. Further details regarding the soft launch and official release will be announced at a later date.
ArenaNet Game Director Stephen Clarke-Willson emphasized the cross-platform compatibility, stating, "We have incorporated the in-depth experience we gained while preparing for Steam Deck support into the development of the mobile version. A key highlight is that mobile and PC users can play on the same servers, with progress automatically carried over."
Meanwhile, Guild Wars Reforged has unveiled a new update to mark the 21st anniversary of the original game, adding new dungeons, quests, and heroes. Having surpassed 9 million cumulative users since its 2005 debut, the Guild Wars franchise proved its enduring popularity when its relaunch as Guild Wars Reforged last year saw a 500% increase in first-week active users.
