NHN (CEO Jung Woo-jin) announced on the 27th that it has donated business laptops to the 'Masterpiece Workshop' under the Social Welfare Society in commemoration of Disabled Persons' Day, aiming to bridge the digital divide and support artistic activities for people with disabilities.
This donation is part of NHN's signature 'Love for PCs' campaign, and it is significant in that the company's existing IT equipment support program has expanded into the new realm of the arts. Having long worked with local communities, including Seongnam City, to bridge the digital divide for youth and seniors, NHN has broadened the scope of its social contribution this year by providing high-performance laptops optimized for creative education to the 'Masterpiece Workshop'.
The donated laptops will be used exclusively for digital art education to assist artists with disabilities, and are expected to contribute to creating a practical creative environment where disabled artists can realize their artistic potential using digital tools.
This initiative combines NHN's IT infrastructure with the 'Masterpiece Workshop,' which is supported by the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation. The collaboration was made possible by the shared commitment of both companies to support digital art education for artists with disabilities. It serves as a prime example of 'Collective Impact,' where organizations combine their respective resources and expertise to solve social issues. The two companies have consistently explored ways to spread social value through private-sector solidarity via local networks such as the 'Seongnam City ESG Activation Roundtable.'
A representative from the Masterpiece Workshop stated, "Previously, digital art projects were limited to a few artists due to a shortage of equipment, but this opportunity has allowed us to expand participation to many more artists with disabilities. They are now able to engage in freer and more diverse creative activities within a digital environment."
An NHN official said, "We hope this donation provides a foundation for artists with disabilities to unleash their creativity in a digital environment without limitations. NHN will continue to strengthen its ESG management centered on the virtuous cycle of resources by leveraging our IT infrastructure to support digitally marginalized groups throughout society."
Meanwhile, in line with the management philosophy of Board Chairman Lee Joon-ho, NHN is taking the lead in fulfilling its social responsibilities by utilizing the technical prowess and expertise of an IT company. As part of this, the company has been conducting the 'PC Sharing for Love' campaign annually, donating business PCs to strengthen the local care ecosystem and bridge the digital divide. In recognition of these efforts, NHN received a ministerial commendation from the Ministry of Science and ICT last year, and this year, it is focusing its capabilities on creating an environment for the self-reliance of disabled artists by expanding its support to the arts sector.
