[LCK Summer Day 38 Review] KT Ascends to 1st Place and HLE Takes a Step Closer to Summer Playoffs

On the 2nd of August, at the Sangam e-Stadium, the 38th day of the '2018 LCK Summer Split' took place. On this day, Hanwha Life Esports defeated MVP with a score of 2-0, and KT Rolster moved up in the LCK standings to 1st place by defeating Jin Air Green Wings.

In game 1 of the 1st series, HLE took MVP with ease. Having entered mid game with a significant lead, HLE prevented MVP from getting together as a five. With it, they dived the inner toplane tower and started snowballing. After securing Baron, HLE destroyed all 3 enemy inhibitors and finished the game.

In game 2, Sangyoon stood out the most. By putting faith into his support Tahm Kench, Sangyoon took full advantage of his lead and consistently damaged the enemy front line. During his team's Baron attempt, Sangyoon heavily contributed to his team's victory by securing kills on the enemy's main DPS champions, Ezreal and Xerath. Equipped with the Baron buff, HLE destroyed the enemy Nexus to take the series 2-0.

JAG took the first set of the 2nd series. UmTi's frequent and successful ganks led the team to victory. By succeeding ganks in both the midlane and toplane, UmTi put his team far ahead of KT. In the mid-to-late game, by fully utilizing the Earth Dragon stacks that they had acquired early on, they quickly secured objectives around the map to finish the game.

In game 2, KT Rolster came out on top of JAG. By taking advantageous champions during picks and bans, KT defeated JAG with ease. After having secured a lead through a gank in the midlane, KT proceeded to choke out the enemy team without making a single mistake.

In the early phase of game 3, KT looked to have had the edge over JAG. However, Teddy's performance on Ezreal made it harder for fans to predict who'll come out on top. In the final moment, however, KT found an opening and quickly secured Baron. Equipped with both the Baron and Elder Dragon buff, KT destroyed the enemy Nexus to place themselves 1st in the LCK standings.
