We met with GorillA to hear about his thoughts on winning alongside his appreciation for his fans.
The support who has descended from the finals! Let’s dive into the interview of Kingzone DragonX’s support, GorillA!
¤ Congratulations on the win! How do you feel winning the spring split?
After the first game, I was a bit worried. However, I am extremely happy that we found our own pace and was able to win.
¤ Following the win for the Spring Split title, you are now qualified for the first time to go to MSI.
Yeah. Thanks to our win, we are able to go to our first ever MSI. The EU and NA teams are already decided in terms of who is going to MSI, but China has not yet been finalized. In regards to the EU and NA teams, we have not gotten the chance to scrim against them. Because of this, we have no idea what their level of performance actually is. In preparation for this Spring Split Finals, we scrimmed against the Chinese teams. The Chinese teams played exceptionally well. Since we have experienced first hand how good China is, we are planning to prepare extremely hard in order to beat the Chinese teams. I think if we do exactly this, we will have a good shot at winning MSI.
¤ Your drop from the sky (Finals entrance) was very impressive! How did it feel coming down like that?
It was a bit scary going up and down on the lift (Laughs). We were told to make very bold and arrogant facial expressions, but it was hard doing that. It was still a cool experience though -- I think if we had done a better job keeping a straight face, it would’ve turned out better.
¤ Throughout the series, KZ kept on banning Rakan. Aside from Morgana, what other pick did you guys prepare beforehand?
In my opinion, in the current meta, I think every support champion is viable. As for Rakan, we banned him because TusiN played him so well during the regular season… but of course, I’m also confident on Rakan. (Laughs) We decided to take away TusiN’s main champion. We didn’t ban him because I wasn’t confident on playing him!
¤ As you’ve mentioned, TusiN played very impressively during the regular season. How was it facing him in the Finals?
After the match, I personally went over and met TusiN. He’s a good friend of mine, so I gave him a hug and acknowledged his efforts. He replied, “hyung, you’re pretty good.”
The match today was TusiN’s very first Finals, so I don’t think he was able to show his everything. He definitely has the potential in becoming an even better player, so I want both of us to win later on and play a good match in the future.
¤ Regarding today’s series, which game are you most fond of?
The 2nd game.
It’s because everything that we had planned -- went according to plan. Of course, it wasn’t picture-perfect, but it was probably the game that we performed the best today.
¤ You guys are on opposite teams, but do you have anything to say to Kuro? I’m well-aware that you guys are very good friends.
The same thing applies to Smeb.
Both Kuro and Smeb have been a good friend of mine for a long time. I don’t know what the future has in store for us, but I want to tell them, “let’s all meet again at a higher place and play a good game.”
¤ Any last words for the fans who are rooting for KZ?
As a professional gamer, today’s match was my very third here in Busan. I want to thank all the fans that came to watch in person -- as well as the fans who are watching online. I’ll continue to do my best to become a professional gamer that performs well on big and important matches. Thank
