The turn-based tactical RPG 'Beaten Path' is set to arrive on consoles and PC in 2027. Publisher Wales Interactive and developer Peacebreak Studios announced the publishing agreement and release plans on the 5th (local time). The game will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
The game is set in 'Celestia,' a world ruled by fallen gods and ancient machines. The protagonist, Panna, who has lost their memory, travels across diverse landscapes—from golden deserts to frozen lands—with companions including Lero, a former priest turned medic. Together, they seek to uncover Panna's role in a past war and the truth behind a recurring destiny. The developer has announced that there will be 25 recruitable characters, all fully voiced, featuring a presentation style that blends 2D illustrations with 3D models.
Combat takes place on a grid-based map using a turn-based system. Terrain, elevation, elemental affinities, and unit positioning dictate the flow of battle, while turn order is determined by a timeline system based on unit agility. Each action consumes Action Points (AP). Flanking an enemy triggers a 'Synchro Attack,' while exploiting weaknesses triggers a 'Break,' which causes the opponent to skip their turn.
There are over 100 types of weapons across 10 categories and more than 200 learnable abilities. The game features a 'Dual Job System' that allows players to assign both a main and sub-job to each unit, and players can customize skill trees, equipment, and even costume colors.
On the diorama-style world map, players can travel by riding horses or sailing across the sea. The environment features dynamic weather, mysterious landmarks, legends, and events with branching choices. At 'Haven,' the central hub for the journey, players can visit the weapon shop, tailor, and skill shop to manage equipment and converse with companions.
'Beaten Path' secured its development funding through crowdfunding. A Kickstarter campaign held from August 19 to September 18, 2025, raised $55809 (approx. ₩79.7 million) from 1396 backers, surpassing its $20k (approx. ₩28.56 million) goal in just six days. Development is led by Jarett Gross of the Los Angeles-based Peacebreak Studios.
The Steam store page is already live, though the release window is currently listed only as 2027. Specific release dates, support for the Korean language, and domestic release plans have not yet been disclosed.
