Nintendo has officially launched a bundle package in Korea featuring the Nintendo Switch 2 and 'Pokémon Pokopia,' a title that has expanded the reach of the Pokémon franchise.

On the 2nd, Nintendo released the set, which includes the Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pokémon Pokopia, as previously announced. The box features the game's protagonist, Metamon, alongside the game's interface, and includes a digital download version of Pokémon Pokopia bundled with the console.

Developed jointly by The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force, Pokémon Pokopia is a sandbox builder life simulation game starring Metamon. The game was created based on an idea by Shigeru Ohmori, producer of the Pokémon series and director of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and leverages the sandbox development expertise Omega Force gained from Dragon Quest Builders 2 to deliver a unique and engaging gameplay experience.

In the game, Metamon acts as the protagonist in a world where humans have disappeared, interacting and communicating directly with other Pokémon. By offering a relaxed gameplay experience rather than combat, the title has successfully attracted a wide audience. It exceeded expectations by selling 2.2 million copies in just four days and 4 million copies within five weeks of its release.

This achievement is particularly notable given that it occurred while the Nintendo Switch 2 is still in the early stages of market penetration. Analysts suggest that Nintendo released this bundle in hopes of accelerating the adoption of the console, which is entering its second year, much like they did with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Previously, the only other bundles released for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the standalone console were the Mario Kart World set and the Pokémon Legends Z-A set.

The bundle is priced at ₩718k. Nintendo previously announced a price hike for the Nintendo Switch 2; as of September 1, the console retails for ₩758k in Korea. This means consumers can purchase the console and Pokopia for less than the price of the console alone.

Meanwhile, Nintendo unveiled the Pokopia Expansion Pass in June and is scheduled to release the 'Bubble Bubble Undersea Village' content, set in the deep sea, this August.
