The opening cinematic for 'Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred' has been released via official channels.

The video begins from the perspective of Neyrelle, who is haunted by nightmares of Mephisto. Having fled with Mephisto’s soulstone in the main game and the previous expansion, 'Vessel of Hatred,' Neyrelle succeeded in placing the soulstone within Akarat’s remains with the help of the protagonist and Lorath Nahr. However, due to the betrayal of 'Eru,' who fell for Mephisto’s manipulation, she was forced to witness Mephisto resurrecting by taking over Akarat’s body.

The scene then shifts to Neyrelle in her library, researching ways to finish off Mephisto, when Mephisto appears before her to engage in one final conversation.

Neyrelle mentions an 'eclipse,' claiming she has seen what Mephisto fears most and intends to reveal it to everyone. She then recites a portion of the Prophecy of Rathma, declaring that a spear of light will appear to pierce the heart of hatred, putting pressure on Mephisto. Unable to contain his sudden rage, Mephisto kills her on the spot. Nevertheless, the video ends by showing that before her demise, Neyrelle successfully sent the information she discovered to the protagonist via a messenger bird.

In this way, the cinematic informs players that a method to defeat Mephisto has been discovered, setting the stage for the central conflict of the 'Lord of Hatred' campaign.

'Lord of Hatred' is set to launch on April 28. Beyond concluding the long-running Mephisto saga, it is highly anticipated for its numerous changes, including a complete overhaul of the skill tree, the addition of the Horadric Cube, and the 'War Plan' feature, which streamlines endgame content.
