Coupang Play will exclusively stream the HBO Original series 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' in South Korea in the second half of this year.
This new HBO Harry Potter drama marks a fresh start, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the original film series. Featuring an entirely new cast, the project is set to span seven seasons over the next decade, promising a deeper exploration of the world and adventures faithful to the original novels.
Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been cast as Harry Potter, Hermione, and Ron, respectively. The cast also includes John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape. Hans Zimmer will compose the music, and original author J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer.
The new Harry Potter series released its official trailer last March, showcasing a 'Harry Potter' with a different atmosphere than before.
Alongside the Korean-language trailer, Coupang Play released a behind-the-scenes documentary titled 'Finding Harry Potter: The Wizards Behind the Camera.' The documentary offers a look at the production process, covering everything from casting to set design.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,' which kicks off the new series, will premiere on HBO Max on December 25. In South Korea, it will be available exclusively on Coupang Play. While the exact domestic release date has not yet been finalized, it is scheduled for the second half of the year.
