Devsisters (CEO Cho Gil-hyun) opened an offline pop-up store, 'New York with CookieRun' (hereinafter 'CookieRun Pop-up'), at the LINE FRIENDS store in New York's Times Square on the 17th (U.S. time).
The pop-up was organized to actively expand consumer touchpoints by offering a variety of merchandise to international fans who have supported the CookieRun franchise. It is scheduled to run for ten days, through the 26th (local time). The venue has attracted a diverse crowd, ranging from New York residents and tourists to a CookieRun: Kingdom player who traveled 2,400 km from Oklahoma City. The store surpassed 10,000 cumulative visitors by its second day.
Over the weekend, Shadowmilk Cookie and Eternal Sugar Cookie appeared at the store entrance to greet visitors and take photos, while a 3-meter-tall Shadowmilk Cookie air balloon photo zone was set up inside. A 3D video featuring CookieRun characters was also displayed on the building's exterior wall to draw attention.
The pop-up store featured over 130 different character merchandise items. Popular goods included ▲CookieRun: Braverse TCG booster packs, ▲Beast Cookie collectible figures, ▲Cake Hound random figures, ▲Ancient and Beast Cookie plushies, and ▲New York-themed Statue of Liberty Brave Cookie plush dolls, alongside various localized items that were well-received by fans. Thanks to this popularity, the store recorded sales of over 18,000 individual items by the end of the first weekend.
Interactive on-site content was also provided, including a CookieRun photo booth with New York-exclusive frames, a roulette event with popular prizes, character greetings, and autograph sessions with voice actors from CookieRun: Kingdom. Last weekend, fans began lining up as early as 6:00 a.m. to secure a spot for the autograph session with Gabi Hankins-Manoukian, the English voice actor for Eternal Sugar Cookie.
Meanwhile, Devsisters plans to accelerate the global expansion of its character merchandise business, starting with this pop-up in New York. The company intends to strengthen its global distribution channels by expanding international shipping for the CookieRun store and opening an official Amazon store. Additionally, Devsisters will participate in the 'Licensing Expo' in Las Vegas this May to secure local partnerships for its character merchandise.
