CFK has unveiled the first official promotional video for 'Shikhondo: Blue Pieta,' a new fantasy bullet hell shooter developed by the Korean indie studio DeerFarm. The video was produced to showcase the game's overall look and key systems ahead of its scheduled release on Steam and STOVE on May 18.
This title is the official sequel to 'Shikhondo: Soul Eater,' which received a positive reception following its release on Steam in 2024 and Nintendo Switch in 2025. Departing from the vertical scrolling of its predecessor, this entry introduces a side-scrolling format for the first time in the series and moves the setting to an exotic metropolis, where it follows a new story featuring two protagonists. The game features detailed depictions of modern environments such as cities, amusement parks, and subway stations, with creatures from exotic folklore appearing as new, formidable foes to heighten the tension.
The promotional video features gameplay footage of the apprentice grim reaper 'Chae-uri' and the vampire hunter 'Leila.' It highlights the spectacular side-scrolling bullet hell action and demonstrates the expanded scale of the battlefield with support for ultra-wide monitors up to 32:9. Additionally, the game features full voice acting from a star-studded cast, including Ikumi Hasegawa and Yoshino Aoyama, to enhance immersion in the story.
In terms of game systems, the 'Soul Collect' system, which was well-received in the previous game, returns in an evolved form. It retains the high-risk, high-reward structure where players fill a gauge by grazing enemy bullets to convert them into score items for increased points. Furthermore, a new 'Counter Bomb' system has been added, allowing players to turn a crisis into an opportunity by pressing the bomb button within 8 frames of being hit, adding a layer of strategic depth.
A variety of game modes are also available. In addition to the Arcade mode for enjoying the main story, the game offers a Hardcore mode where a single hit results in a game over, a Boss Rush mode for consecutive boss battles, and a Customize mode that allows players to adjust various options. The game also supports up to two-player co-op, allowing players to experience the fun of navigating bullet patterns with a friend.
'Shikhondo: Blue Pieta' is scheduled for a global release on Steam and STOVE on May 18, 2026. Plans are in place to expand to major console platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5, at a later date. Store pages are currently open, and the game can be added to wishlists.
