Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 tops Steam charts with record-breaking launch

Mob Entertainment’s latest instalment in the Poppy Playtime series has become the franchise’s biggest launch to date, topping Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart and selling 175,000 units within its first day.

 

According to a release, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 – Broken Things reached the number one spot on Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart following its debut and held the position for more than 24 hours. The developer also stated that day-one sales surpassed previous chapter records, with 175,000 copies sold.

 

In addition to its commercial performance, the game reportedly became the most-watched title on Twitch on launch day. On Steam, it currently holds a ‘Very Positive’ rating based on more than 2,400 user reviews at the time of writing.

 

To mark the milestone, Mob Entertainment published an accolades trailer highlighting early critical reception and player feedback.

Chapter 5 continues the episodic horror franchise’s storyline, taking players further into the Playtime Co. factory. The new chapter centres around confronting ‘The Prototype’, described as the puppet master behind the events of previous instalments.

 

According to the release, gameplay includes puzzle-solving, environmental navigation and the introduction of new GrabPack tools and abilities. Players are pursued by security systems and returning characters, including Huggy Wuggy, while uncovering further details about the company’s backstory.

 

The Poppy Playtime series has built a significant online following since its initial launch in 2021, with streamers and content creators contributing to its popularity across platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. Each chapter release has typically generated spikes in livestream viewership, reflecting the franchise’s strong presence in creator-driven ecosystems.

 

Merchandise store launches alongside new chapter

 

 

Alongside the game’s release, Mob Entertainment has launched a new official webstore, offering Poppy Playtime-themed merchandise and collectibles. The storefront features apparel and keepsakes tied to the franchise’s characters and branding.

 

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 – Broken Things is now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Console versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox are scheduled to launch later this year.
