T1 Bengi: "Faker will not be playing for at least two weeks."

On Jul. 7, in the 2023 LCK Summer Split, T1 was swept by DRX 0-2. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok didn’t play this day due to his right arm injury, but even considering that, the loss was devastating for T1. After the match, head coach Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong and support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok joined the media for an interview.

What do you think about today’s game?

Bengi: We played unprepared, and there were many things we lacked.

Keria: In the recent meta, we need to think about the concept of the composition all together and play all together, but we didn’t have much time to practice, so it seems that our team synergy isn’t good yet.

The game was really one-sided. How are you planning to move forward?

Bengi: We need to do as well as we can until Faker returns. I’ll find a way that we can do our best.

Keria: When I heard that Faker won’t be playing, I thought we should do our best so that we can at least make the playoffs. Our performance today wasn’t really good, so we’ll need to improve it as soon as possible.

When did you decide to have Faker take a break?

Bengi: We talked about it after our match against NS. Faker will not be playing for at least two weeks, and we’ll see how it goes from there.

Zeus and Oner seem to be inconsistent. What are your thoughts?

Bengi: Today’s match could have been personal issues, but there were some mistakes in decision-making, which happens when the team isn’t stable. I feel that they were affected by the team issues mentally.

You said that you didn’t have enough time to prepare. Do you think it’ll be different next week?

Bengi: We’ll have to try.

Keria: I’ll do my best, but I don’t know how it will go.

If Faker can return after two weeks, how many wins do you think you need to collect?

Bengi: Considering the matchups, I want to get at least two wins. We lost today, and it’ll be difficult against the others, but the team’s goal is to win as many games as possible.

Poby had his debut. How was it?

Bengi: He had to play unexpectedly, so he wasn’t prepared. It was a difficult match for him.

What do you think you need to improve?

Bengi: We need to decide the compositions we can do and practice them.

Keria: I also think that we should make a good composition where Poby feels confident in to make him feel comfortable when we play.

Any last comments?

Bengi: I’ll do my best to get the best out of the given situation.

Keria: I’ll do my best in the remaining matches until Faker returns. Poby had his debut today, but I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to give him a good experience.
