Team Liquid had an interesting 2020, with a rather lackluster Spring Split followed by a record performance in the summer that was capped off by yet another 3-3 Worlds run that left them stranded in the group stage. After finishing ninth in spring, they replaced their star AD carry, Yiliang "Peter" "Doublelift" Peng, and hired a new head coach, the longtime caster and Rioter, Joshua "Jatt" Leesman. The team had a pretty strong performance at Worlds outside of one game against the PCS first seed, Machi, that ended up spelling their doom. The team kept most of their roster but is making two key changes this off-season. Here is the official confirmed 2021 Liquid roster.
Confirmed player signings are in green. Confirmed player departures are in strikethrough red. Transfers reported by reputable sources are in purple.
Though their full roster had been rumored for weeks with various reports of both Barney "Alphari" Morris and Lucas "Santorin" Larsen joining the squad, Team Liquid finally announced their 2021 roster Friday, November 20, four days after the free agency period opened. Alphari is replacing their longtime star top laner, Jung "Impact" Eon-yeong, who was with the team for their dominant run through 2018 and 2019, winning all four of the LCS titles in those splits. Alphari comes from Origen and a tenth place finish last summer, but he was voted the first All-Pro top laner in the LEC, showing that he is incredibly strong, especially from a last place team. Santorin joins from FlyQuest, who just made back to back NA finals and made their first Worlds appearance in the org's history.
