In yet another off-season change from Team Liquid, Academy Jungler, Shern "Shernfire" Cherng Tai, was released from the org on May 15th. He played with the team only one Split, starting off on the main League of Legends Championship Series roster during Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen's visa delay, and then switching to Academy upon his arrival mid-season. He helped turn the Academy team around, taking them from 1-5 to 8-10 by the end of the regular season.

Shernfire originally tweeted out that he was looking for a team one month ago, April 15th. In his TwitLonger, he notes that he was unable to find any offers from other teams in NA, and will be taking to Korea to chase after Rank 1 solo queue. He doesn't explain his reason for departure, but notes that while "In some ways I did prove myself, in other ways I disappointed others." Earlier this off-season, Team Liquid signed Jonathan "Grig" Armao, who was the Dignitas and Dignitas Academy Jungler this split.
