Jo Il-jang successfully advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Jung Yoon-jong 2:1 in the final match. Both players displayed exceptional skill in a closely contested series, but Jo ultimately overcame Jung by masterfully utilizing Hydralisks and Mutalisks. Below is the full victory interview with Jo Il-jang, who advanced as the second-place finisher from Group B of the Google Play ASL Season 21 Round of 16.

Q. How do you feel about advancing to the quarterfinals in second place?
I prepared hard for the Protoss matchup, but it wasn't as easy as I thought. I had prepared for specific scenarios, but playing multiple games in a row was tough. Still, I'm relieved to have made it through.
Q. Some say your mid-to-late game management was lacking.
I had planned to transition from Mutalisks to Lurkers and eventually to Hive, but I hadn't practiced that transition enough. That’s why the details were a bit lacking.
Q. You are a Zerg veteran in the ASL, but your recent tournament results haven't been great. It feels like you've seized another opportunity here, doesn't it?
I think I'll only be satisfied if I reach at least the semifinals. To go all the way and win, I need to improve my psychological warfare. I’ve been disappointed with my build choices, and I think I need to be bolder.
Q. Is there a specific player or race you want to face in the quarterfinals?
Since it's a best-of-five, I'd rather not face a Protoss; Terran seems better. Protoss matchups are difficult due to map points and the nature of the maps. Because they are two-player maps, the start is unfavorable, and you have to get the build order right for the game to go well.
Q. Group C features players who defined an era—'Taek - Lee - Ssang.' What are your thoughts?
They were incredible players during their prime, and they are still truly excellent today. Their form this season is really good. As a fan, I'm looking forward to it. It wouldn't be surprising whoever makes it out of that group.
Q. Any final words?
I want to thank Won Seon-jae, Kim Taek-yong, and Byun Hyun-je for helping me practice. I wasn't satisfied with my performance in the Round of 16, but I will show a better side of myself in the quarterfinals.
