11 bit studios is once again stepping up to support a unique indie game. On the 9th, the company officially announced that it had signed a publishing agreement for 'Crop,' a new title currently in development by Carbonara Games, a three-person indie team based in Norway.
- Game Title: Crop
- Developer: Carbonara Games
- Publisher: 11 bit studios
- Keywords: #FarmingThriller #PsychologicalHorror #Mystery
- News: Official Publishing Announcement (April 9, 2026)
'Crop' completely subverts the conventions of traditional, peaceful, and healing-focused farming management simulations. The game reinterprets the rhythmic, mundane tasks of digging and sowing into something bizarre and surreal. The developers aim to deliver a dark thriller where soil, blood, and pesticides collide, blending the surrealism of David Lynch with Lovecraftian cosmic horror.
The game is primarily set in a desolate farm on the edge of a village that is cut off from the outside world and suffering from starvation. As the player, you are isolated here and tasked with the heavy responsibility of feeding the villagers. However, simply growing crops is not the end of it. You must investigate every corner of the farm to unravel questions such as, "Why did I come here?", "Why is the village quarantined?", and "Who is watching me from the darkness."
The gameplay combines meticulous farm management with psychological horror. To squeeze life out of the barren land, players must dig trenches, install pumps, and repair broken equipment. It also includes detailed management elements, such as weeding to prevent pests and producing compost to improve crop quality. The repetitive routine of these tasks intertwines with a dark narrative that slowly consumes the protagonist, creating an atmosphere of extreme tension.
An 11 bit studios representative stated, "Crop is a game that embodies the 'original creativity and profound messaging' that we pursue. We were deeply impressed by how it uses the familiar genre of farming simulation to unfold a story of psychological horror and mystery."
'Crop' is being developed as a single-player game, targeting fans of mystery thrillers and management simulations. Further details regarding the game and its release schedule will be announced at a later date.
