KT Aiming explains the background behind duo partner Effort’s call-up

KT Rolster claimed a dominant 2-0 victory over T1 in Match 2 on the opening day of the 2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) regular season, held on April 1st at LoL Park in Jongno. After taking Game 1 in just 23 minutes with a perfect 12-0 scoreline, KT Rolster closed out Game 2 as well after a hard-fought battle.

The following is the full interview with Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram.

Q. How do you feel after taking such a convincing 2-0 win over T1 in your opening match?

It was our first match after the season opened, so I’m really happy we won 2-0. I think we got off to a good start.

Q. How did you prepare for T1? And did you expect such a one-sided win?

We were in the process of rebuilding our team play after bringing in a new support player. So we practiced a lot with a focus on communication between support and jungle, and on the things we could do better as a team overall. Our scrim results had been good lately, so I think we had confidence that we could win it all.

Q. During practice and in today’s match, what strengths do you think stood out the most?

I think the games flowed smoothly because we set clear goals and everyone aligned their play around them.

Q. Game 1 was a completely dominant win, while in Game 2 you started off at a disadvantage on the bottom side but turned it around through the strength of your top side.

Even though Game 1 was our first game, we secured priority in every lane and won pretty comfortably. That made it even better. In Game 2, I felt our composition had strong value, and that it was solid both early and late without any real weaknesses, so I played with a lot of peace of mind. Lee “PerfecT” Seung-min got a solo kill and played really well, which made things easier for us.

Q. PerfecT’s performance today was incredible. From your perspective, how has he grown?

Seung-min is my roommate, and he’s really adorable as a younger brother figure, so it’s great living with him. He’s a little goofy in everyday life, which makes him even more lovable, and it makes me want to take good care of him. Also, when I feel like there’s something he’s lacking or something disappointing in his play, if I tell him clearly, he thinks deeply about it and takes it on board. In that sense, I think he’s a genuinely excellent player.

Q. After the LCK Cup, what did you focus on while preparing for the LCK regular season?

I’m confident in bottom-lane laning, and I’m also confident in the finer details of laning phase. So I tried to say as much as I could about the things I could help with, and the bottom duo talked a lot with each other.

Q. In the LCK Cup, you played alongside Oh “Pollu” Dong-gyu and Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun, but in KT’s first LCK match, Lee “Effort” Sang-ho started instead. I’m curious about the background behind that.

Bottom lane is a lane played by two people. Of course, it’s ideal if both players see the same angle, but even when they don’t, if they at least talk through it and understand each other, then in the end they can still produce play in the same direction. Also, no matter who says what in that situation, it shouldn’t damage your own play — it should only create additional advantages. In that regard, Effort understood things right away and used them well in his own way. I think he’s a player who can become even better.

Q. This was Effort’s first LCK match back in three years. Was he nervous?

I think he probably was nervous, but as we kept winning during the match, he seemed to loosen up a lot and started playing really well. Effort has a very kind image, doesn’t he? Personally, I think I’m affected positively by that, so I really like it.

Q. Your next opponent is Gen.G.

I think Gen.G are the strongest team in the LCK right now. We’re still in the process of building our teamwork and individual synergy, but I want us to play in our own way and try to beat them.

Q. Lastly, a word on your resolve for this season.

This season, I want us to become a happy team that can make it all the way to the end and still be smiling.
