The 'DualSense Chroma Blue Special Edition,' which captures the identity of PlayStation in color, is set for its official domestic release on July 30.
Releasing new color editions for the DualSense is nothing new at this point. Starting with the standard white model, Sony introduced Midnight Black (the all-black model) and the subtly charming Cosmic Red in 2021, followed by Starlight Blue, Nova Pink, and Galactic Purple. In 2023, the lineup continued to expand with the Deep Earth Collection, which added metallic Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver.
The various limited editions are also hard to overlook. From the LeBron James and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 limited editions to the Astro Bot and the 2024 30th Anniversary limited editions, these models have captivated countless gamers—especially PlayStation users—with their unique charm compared to standard colors.
In the midst of this comes the new Chroma Blue Special Edition. Designed to embody the history and heritage of PlayStation, it catches the eye with a combination of various blue tones and a shimmering PlayStation Shapes pattern etched onto the touchpad. However, it is true that describing it in words alone makes it difficult to fully appreciate the charm of the Chroma Blue Special Edition.
The Chroma Blue Special Edition is said to express the anticipation and excitement of the moment a console is powered on and the DualSense controller lights up. I captured it in photos to see what kind of unique appeal it has compared to existing color models.
