The Cyberpunk IP, which has shown synergy beyond its original game through various collaborations, is making a significant impact in 'Apex Legends.' The three-week collaboration event is packed with a Cyberpunk aesthetic, featuring a variety of cosmetic items like skins.
While player traffic in Apex Legends is typically driven by seasonal updates, this collaboration hasn't caused a massive spike in player numbers. However, the revenue tells a different story. On this day, Apex Legends ranked 2nd globally and 3rd in Korea on the Steam top-grossing charts. Following the success of the previous 'Gundam' collaboration, this Cyberpunk event has also achieved positive revenue results.
The event introduces eight premium Legend skins and eight weapon skins inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners. Additionally, 'Skippy,' the smart gun known for its witty banter, returns as a Mythic Alternator skin, offering unique charm across two different firing modes.
Changes to gameplay are also noteworthy. With the setting that Cyberware is flooding the E-District streets, two new pieces of Cyberware have been added: Sandevistan and Blackwall Breach. Sandevistan is specialized for closing distances or escaping danger through continuous dashes, while Blackwall Breach enables strategic play by allowing players to phase-shift into the net to reposition before firing a disruptive EMP that destroys enemy shields. Notably, excessive use of Chrome will cause the Cybernetic Load meter to reach its limit, potentially turning the player into a Cyberpsycho.
Furthermore, this patch incorporates community feedback by adjusting the Wild Card map rotation time to 90 minutes. The Bot Royale Evolve lobby has also been changed to include only one squad per team, addressing issues with queue times and skill gaps. Respawn stated in its developer notes that it will continue to test and adjust rotation times.
